Overly generous friends.

Have any of you ever had to deal with a friend who insist (Violently at times) on paying for everything? Everything from golf, restaurants, bar bills, and so on. We’re going fishing in Cabo in a bit and I can only imagine how that’s gonna go. He’s an immigrant from Ethiopia and I’m unsure if this is a cultural thing.

Should I be annoyed or just continue mooching?

I would make it as clear as possible that you are willing to pay, and that you are able to pay, and want to. If he keeps insisting on paying, then you've done what you could.

Whether it's cultural or just "his thing" - that's up to him. It's his money.

Had a friend get a 80k settlement. Went to the Keys, partied, blew my wad, he insisted the rest was on him. Did a bunch of jumps at another dz, I coached him on MY dime payed for all my jumps. Couple yrs. later he says I owe him a bunch of money. Offered him what my tab was for the Keys. Never heard from him again. Never can figure people out.:S
I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.
