degeneration 5 #1 December 9, 2017 So here's an issue I'm having. I acquired a 4k file of Rogue One to replace my current 1080p file. Loved the film, so figured why not get it in the best looking way possible, within reasonable size limitations of the file. Checked it on my PC once I got it, all looked good, but my PC monitor is only a 2k one, but importantly for my issues, colours looked fine. Put it on my media server and watched it on my TV through Kodi and the colours looked awful. All washed out and as if the contrast/brightness was off. Blacks were grey, no deep shadows etc. TV settings hadn't changed. Immediately checked my 1080p version and it looked correct, back to the 4k version, all washed out looking. Checked it again on my PC, all fine looking. So, clearly there is something about 4k files that I don't get, and there's a setting somewhere either on my TV or in Kodi that I'm missing. anyone got any ideas what it is? The file is x265 encoded (like most of my stuff these days), and I do not know if it is HDR or not. Apparently it is a 10bit file, according to the source... So... ideas?Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic). degeneration 5 #3 December 11, 2017 Yes I am. Cause it looks perfect on my monitor, but not on my TV. So the real issue and crux of my query is the settings or something on my TV or Kodi player, and not the file itself. If I could edit the first post, I'd change it to just saying "a 4K file", and leave that side of things at that, but it seems the window for editing has passed.Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).
