Are you saying you especially disagree with Trump supporters and many Americans? You ertainly made no indication of that at the time.

Are those my words or, was I quoting someone else?
They are your words.

I need to learn how to use the search function in SC to find specific quotes.

Well, if you stole it from someone else you did not give any indication of that at the time. And why would you steal it from someone else and post it here as if they was your own work if you did not agree with the contents?

Regardless, are you saying that you especially disagree with Trump voters and many Americans over this issue? Would you agree that their criticism of Obama on this issue was baseless and specious? Do you agree that Trump's own criticism of Obama over this issue was baseless and hypocritical?

Whatever, I have no interest at this point.

Ron - "Trump is great because X"
Others - "Why did you think Obama was terrible because X?"
Ron - "What? I wasn't really interested in Obama doing X."
Others - "You said he was terrible for doing X."
Ron - "I never said that"
Others - "here's the quote of you saying that."
Ron - "That doesn't look like my writing."
Others - "You said it several times."
Ron - "Whatever; I have no interest. Why are you talking about this?"

You could give Kellyanne Conway a run for her money.

Of course not, it would require you to either apologise for blindly copy and pasting stuff you hadn't even read because you thought it supported your own opinions, or criticise your fellow travellers or even the glorious leader for making such a huge deal about something you think doesn't matter.

As Skydekker just pointed out, your ego is far too important for you to make that kind of concession.

Economic stimulus from the public to the private sector.;)

Well, economic stimulus from the public to Trump's pocket.

All the hotel costs, golf cart costs, meal costs, all the expenses of staying at a Trump owned resort are paid for out of the taxpayer's pocket, directly into Trump's.

Yep -- this. I was holding off replying to earlier posts (just catching up on this thread!) until I could get to the end to see whether anyone referenced this.

The president may not be taking a low 6-figure government salary, but he chooses to take his weekends and holidays at COMMERCIAL properties he owns. This is a business for him, and he's making REAL money while "donating" his time (or his salary -- which can be a tax deduction if he's really donating it to charity).

Not that there's any real surprise to this behavior.

His whole campaign used the same technique. A vast majority of the campaign expenditures were spent at/on Trump enterprises. All of the events were at Trump owned locations. All of the travel was on Trump airline, all of the campaign offices were at Trump properties, all of the food was catered by Trump food services.

He conned his supporters into paying himself for all of this. It's illegal to simply keep the money, but he found a way to make sure he got to pocket the majority of it.

And got them to consider that as a sign I'd his business acumen. Because business acumen is more important than liberal ethics. Those are a sign of weakness.

White identity politics and the shutdown: Vicious racism got us here
Blame Trump or blame Schumer?
That’s not the point: Our politics are contaminated by a history of vicious racism

White identity politics has several elements. They include racial resentment, a sense of entitlement, a belief that the political and social concerns of whites (especially white conservative Christian heterosexual men) are "natural" and "normal" while the political and social concerns of nonwhites (and other groups) are illegitimate, and a belief that whites are the "real Americans" and that white people as a group must have a superior position over others.

By definition, white identity politics are an expression of white supremacy.

White identity politics has an especially powerful hold over today's Republican Party and the conservative movement as a whole.

In the post-civil rights era, conservatism and racism are so intertwined in terms of policy, political values, disparate racial impact, public opinion and cognition as to be almost inseparable. White identity politics sits at the center of this knot...

Trump used white identity politics, in the form of nativism and right-wing "producerism," to win the White House...

Today's Republicans and other conservatives have a deep antipathy to the very idea of government. "Big government" is perceived as their enemy, and in the right-wing political imagination "big government" is tied to providing services, money and other unearned resources to "lazy" black and brown people, "welfare queens" and others deemed to be social parasites.

This effort to connect black and brown people to the federal government as dependents who are also somehow privileged relative to "hard-working" and "independent" white Americans is an old stereotype that can trace its origins back to the Reconstruction era."

I know people who consider the fact that his casinos declared bankruptcy repeatedly as an indication that he is a "shrewd businessman".

The fact that he:

Can't make money with a casino.
He screwed over his creditors, vendors and employees.

But personally made millions in the process.

That's not a "shrewd businessman."
That's a con man.

That's only because he's flying the right flag. A democrat (or anyone not "conservative enough" in this toxic age) who declares bankruptcy is stupid and inept.

Of course, there are liberals who give their own a pass on things conservatives get pointed out. We can sympathize with the problems we can identify with. We need to remember to identify with humans.

It didn't take long for the deficit hawks to return.
