Secret Spy Agency?

Recommended Posts

As much as I dislike Trump, I'm not sure I can believe this.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-considering-spy-network-to-combat-deep-state-enemies-intercept/ar-BBGgHsD

Unnamed sources and the principals in the article denied when asked directly. But a conspiracy theorist would say that's exactly what you would expect them to say if it were true. I'll wait for more reliable information. (And hope it's not true.)

I have no doubt that the headline is correct:

"Trump considering spy network to combat 'deep state' enemies"

I am certain he has considered that, given that he sees the "deep state" as a an evil force bent on opposing his beneficent rule, and the media as a biased enemy.

As to whether he is competent enough to pull that off - very doubtful.

Ahhh...the Trump Storm Detachment.
I saw the articles in the news this morning, but it is not new;
I've also seen rumors of this over the past year.

Hi Niki,

combat 'deep state' enemies

A few months ago Frontline ran a 2-hr program on Putin ( you know, Trump's buddy ). In it they said that Putin had formed a 350,000 man National Guard ( Army ) that was under his command only. It also said that the thing that Putin fears the most is an uprising by the Russian people, ala what happened in Libya.

Let's hope Trump doesn't get any wild ideas.

And, do not forget that during the heighth of the Watergate probe, Nixon seriously considered ringing the White House with US Marshals to keep Congress from getting the tapes.

1930's Gemany anyone?

Oh, but then I would be a drama queen.

Nah!

If a super secret, off the books spy network is to be considered it would never be announced the news media. The fact that MSN made it public means that something else, probably more secret, is under way. You know, the old Obama trick of showing the right hand so you don't notice what the left hand is doing.

To be fair, so far in this presidency unnamed sources for the major media outlets have often proved to be more trustworthy and reliable than the administration's officials ;)

What I don't like though is the phrase 'such and such is considering....' It's so ambiguous. It can mean anything from 'there are plans being put in place right now' to 'some whackjob made an unsolicited pitch which was listened to for 5 minutes out of courtesy'.

Only if implemented by someone competent. As far as I can tell, there is no one competent in the upper levels of the administration now.

There's also the fact that the probability of something like this staying secret for very long is just about zero.

Sooner or later (likely "sooner"), someone involved would find it abhorrent enough to "drop a dime" on it.

There would be too many people involved in it for it not to happen. Staff, secretary, maybe even a janitor.

Kinda like all the leaks coming out of the White House.
