Phil1111 1,149 #1 October 4, 2017 Ivanka, Trump Jr. were nearly charged with fraud in 2012: report ...The case disappeared after Trump's personal attorney, Marc Kasowitz, met with Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. to ask him to drop the investigation.... That same year, Kasowitz donated $25,000 to Vance's campaign... A later donation of $50,000, however, occurred less than six months after Vance dropped the case... “I donated to Cy Vance’s campaign because I was and remain extremely impressed by him as a person of impeccable integrity, as a brilliant lawyer and as a public servant with creative ideas and tremendous ability,” Kasowitz told ProPublica http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/353788-ivanka-trump-donald-trump-jr-were-almost-indicted-over-fraud The Trump kids partnered on the project with two Soviet-born businessmen, one of whom was Felix Sater, who previously pleaded guilty to racketeering and had spent time in prison for a bar fight where he attacked a man with the stem of a margarita glass. ... Business was slow, but the Trump family claimed the opposite. In April 2008, they said that 31 percent of the condos in the building had been purchased. Donald Jr. boasted to The Real Deal magazine that 55 percent of the units had been bought. In June 2008, Donald, Jr. and Ivanka, alongside their brother Eric, gathered the foreign press at Trump Tower in Manhattan, where Ivanka announced that 60 percent had been snapped up… None of that was true. According to a sworn affidavit by a Trump partner filed with the New York Attorney General’s office, by March of 2010, almost two years after the press conference, only 15.8 percent of units had been sold. This was more than a marketing problem. The deal hinged on selling at least 15 percent of the units. By law, the sales couldn’t close with anything less. The Trumps and their partners would have had to return the buyers’ down payments. http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2017/10/04/propublica_report_ivanka_trump_and_don_jr_nearly_indicted_for_real_estate.html Just more draining the swamp. quade 4 #2 October 4, 2017 What I'll never understand about corruption like this is just how little some government officials can be bought off for. I -might- compromise my integrity for a million dollars into my pocket. I can even understand that. But a $25k donation to a campaign? That makes no freaking sense unless there are other shenanigans going on like two sets of books and volume.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

First, elected officials NEED to raise cash for elections if they want to keep their positions. And secondly, they know that the chances of being caught are very low. And even if it does come to light the bar for prosecution is very high. I'm sure if he knew the positions that Jared and Ivanka would end up occupying the calculation would be very different.Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. jakee 1,497 #4 October 4, 2017 Because they get away with it? Look, this is only just coming out now because Trump Sr is President and there's a concerted effort to find out just how deep the rot goes. Who coulda seen that coming 5 years ago? At the time either no-one found out or no-one cared and without the election no-one would have had reason to go delving into it now or in the future. And it may have 'only' been $75k, but they're also only one contributor. Stack up a whole bunch of them and you're looking at a heck of a lot of cash.Do you want to have an ideagasm? Just look at what the current Labor Minister did for Trump and Epstein as a prosecutor.
