Back in the 1950's we really wanted to get into orbit, and then to the moon. But if we went purely by results, we would have given up after a few years - because our rockets always blew up. But our intent (and determination) was clear, and so we kept working at it until we did get into orbit, and then to the Moon.
ryoder 1,590 #27 October 7, 2017 Speaking of the man named in the thread title... Last night I was watching episode 10 of Ken Burns "The Vietnam War". They were talking about Nixon's impeachment, and showed a short clip of the House taking verbal votes for impeachment: "Mr Rangel?" "Aye." Holy shit! Charles Rangel has been around so long that he actually voted to impeach Nixon!(Wikipedia shows he served from 1971 to 2017) "There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. billvon 2,997 #28 October 8, 2017 billvonSo far in terms of people to blame for this shooting, the right wing has come up with: -Charles Rangel -Disrespect for Trump (really) -ISIS -Democrats in general -CNN -anthem protests Anyone else? Well, Obama has now been blamed, as predicted, by that bastion of wisdom Kellyanne Conway - for not regulating bump stocks sooner. Wait - breaking news - someone else has been blamed. But this time the right is OUTRAGED! Blaming people for the shooting (other than the shooter himself) is "divisive, inaccurate and irresponsible!" Anyone who does that should be "ashamed of themselves!" What a "terrible example!" Because this time, of course, Trump has been blamed. I bet most right wingers don't even see the hypocrisy there.
