Back to Ocasio-Cortez... I saw her on “60 Minutes” last night. Her demeanor is young-woman, which doesn’t normally come off as full of gravitas (which most people expect from office-holders). I, being of a generation that’s more used to deep voices in the government, thought she might have sounded lightweight, but her words didn’t necessarily. She’s mirroring some of what I hear from her generational cohort; it’s time for a new generation to come in and change things up, the same way that the boomers started to in the 70’s.

I thought that she was poised and refreshing. Although some of her economic ideas are impractical, poorly researched, if not outright mistakes. On balance I think she is an enthusiastic, articulate counterbalance to the dangerous ideas of the old, conservative guard of the republican elite.

The moderating influences of committee and experience. Will hopefully put some sound economics behind some of her more extreme ideas. What she brings is honesty, integrity and a purity of purpose.

As you know, I am also a fan of hers. For many of the reasons you put so well. But I would say that this particular one is somewhat meaningless going forward. Yet Paul Ryan was called a 'genius' when he was elected.
