The wall

Recommended Posts

So following the drama in the USA it strikes me the ‘great wall’ is Donald Trumps attempt to immortalise himself in the same way as tinpot dictators make big statues of themselves.

It’s got nothing to do with security, it’s about him having an object ‘Trumps wall’

Yep. It's all about the show for him. I get the feeling that, in a way, this is his response to Mueller. To Trump's mindset, if his show is more interesting, Mueller's will slip in the ratings and be cancelled.

The thread title reminds me of: (with apologies to Roger Waters)

============
So you thought you
Might like to go to the show
To feel that warm thrill of confusion
That space cadet glow
I've got some bad news for you sunshine
The GOP isn't well, they stayed back at the hotel
And they sent me along as a surrogate man
We're gonna find out where their fans really stand

Are there any trannies in the theater tonight?
Get them up against the wall
There's one in the spotlight, she don't look right to me
Get her up against the wall
That one's from Honduras!
That one's from Iran!
Who let this riff-raff into my scam?
There's one smoking a joint!
And another with spots!
I wouldn't lose any votes if
I had all of you shot!

Exactly right. And the brazenness of it is hilarious. I hope at least some trump voters are smart enough to realise that. The ones on this site mostly aren't.

I'd say it's only the most strident ones, who, frankly, are kind of one-note trumpeters regardless...

IMO, it is making the Ds look foolish, refusing to negotiate, and thereby reducing their power and influence.

I believe negotiation requires each party to bring something to the table and then work out a compromise. When the Ds say no to the other side negotiations stop.

President Trump is making Chuck and Nancy look bad. Their goal is to eliminate him and future Rs from the WH. They appear to be petulant. With good reason, their world of power elitism is crumbling.

For crap's sake, Ron -- you spend 8 years saying that the R's should do no negotiating with Obama. Do you really think that conservatives are so special? Is there a Republican Exceptionalism to go along with the American Exceptionalism?

New stage, new drama, different objectives, different strategies.

IMO the only people "enjoying the show" is President Putin and his circle of kleptocrats. Together with the Russian, NK and Chinese people.

Exactly. Having a tantrum and storming out of a meeting when you don't get your way ensures that won't happen.

>When the Ds say no to the other side negotiations stop.

The D's say yes. They have been meeting with Trump and passing bills to reopen government. Trump says no.

>President Trump is making Chuck and Nancy look bad.

Given that Trump has stated he owns the shutdown and will not compromise until he gets his way, he's making them look like the reasonable adults in the room.

You continue to show what a simple one trick pony you are. When Ds are in power you believe the Rs should not negotiate and not compromise. When Rs are in power you believe Ds should negotiate and compromise.

I guess you make your life pretty simple when you just believe everything an R does is good and everything a D does is bad. No thinking required.

Hey, remember when the Democrats had a temper tantrum sit down in the House of Representatives?

Ah, cool. We've moved on to the third phase.

2) OK maybe he is but it's a good thing
3) Democrats did it first

An eye for an eye, then? And here I thought you were talking about negotiating?

While it’s true that if one side only says ‘no’ then there’s no negotiation it’s ALSO true that if the other side only says ‘my way or nothing’ they take most of the blame.

I say ‘give me all your guns’
You say ‘no!’

And then people say ‘Ron’s just not willing to negotiate. Yoink is making him look foolish.’
You wouldn’t think that’s a fair statement, would you?

This is why trump and Ron like Xi of China:

'If you enter a camp, you never come out': inside China's war on Islam
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jan/11/if-you-enter-a-camp-you-never-come-out-inside-chinas-war-on-islam

"They are reluctant to talk because the building is not a formal prison or university, but an internment camp where Muslim minorities, mainly Uighurs, are sent against their will and without trial for months or even years.

Researchers and residents say southern Xinjiang, where the Luopu County No 1 Vocational Skills Training Centre is located, has borne the brunt of the government’s crackdown on Muslims because of its density of Uighurs and distance from major cities.

“We have a saying in Hotan: If you go into a concentration camp in Luopu, you never come out,” said Adil Awut*, from Hotan City, who is now living overseas."

Concentration camps, its all good when you're an enemy of the state. "Crickets from trump".

Remaining in determination for cause and effect binds and restricts you to the linear thinking pattern of the physical plain.

David R Hawkins, MD, PhD defines this process as having a consciousness level below 200. He has written extensively on expanding consciousness and transcending the levels in order to rise above 200 and beyond.

I encourage you to focus on process instead of cause and effect.

Fortunately for those of us that live on the physical plane effect DOES follow cause. Time being linear and all that.

If you’re right and there IS an afterlife and in that afterlife there is non-linear time then my thoughts will change, but right now you’re listening to claptrap that simply doesn’t apply to this reality.
Give me a single widely accepted physical example in this plane of existence of cause following effect and I’ll rethink.

As far as the never will happen "wall" goes, the process seems to have broken down. The people are against it, most of the Rs know it is going no where. Mueller is closing in on Trump. And His Petulant Excellency is desperately clinging to hope that this distraction will last awhile longer. Meanwhile the hundreds of thousands of Americans suffer needless pain, with the number getting larger daily.

Trump is the cause, damage is the effect. Process will not be thwarted but is being delayed.
Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

I have been thinking a lot about Trymp supporters, Republicans, and Democrats. I have asked Ron & Rushmc some tough questions and, not surprisingly, they have not answered. But I think I have a better understanding of where they are coming from. Please do not confuse understanding with agreement.

Imagine if a football team lost 42-7 and the defense scored the 7 points on the losing team. In the locker room after the game, the losing team’s defense was celebrating. The quarterback asks them why they are celebrating and they explain that they ‘won’. “They scored more points than the offense.” They don’t care that the entire team lost, just that their part of the team ‘won’.

I think people like Ron & Rushmc only care if ‘their’ team wins, even if the real team, The United States of America, loses.

The wall isn’t about immigration or national security, it is about ‘winning’ over the Democrats. They have lost sight of the big picture.

Absolutely. And they’ve admitted as much in the past.

It’s stopped being politics and has become tribalism. If my opponent is for it then I HAVE to be against it... whatever IT might be.

What’s worse for us as a country is that that type of emotional tribalism is much, much easier to sell while you’re on stage than actual politics and policy. That’s why we’re seeing a continual polarization of the two political parties as they concentrate more on demonizing the enemy than on actually coming up with solutions.

You are getting closer, still stating cause and effect but the process is the spirit with emotional tribalism.

President Trump understands, IMO, and knows how to use it.

The sad fact is that is our devalued federal government. As a result, it looks like 2019 is going to be a tough year for some.

Absolutely. It’s lesson 101 for conmen - stay away from facts and appeal to emotion. It worked.
Out of interest have you ever been conned before, in a non-political arena?

Your new stance on cause preceding effect somehow being a negative position is BY FAR the most batshit crazy thing you’ve posted in a while. And you’ve had some proper humdingers.
Nothing I post will have any chance of resonating with you in that case, nor will most other posters I suspect, because we live in this reality and not a fictional one.
