Ok, maybe they don't want the support of their baby's father during their pregnancy.

Uhhhh......That has very little to do with what you said. Just to remind you....

"I'm  sure the millions of women against abortion at the front of the pro life movement would agree."

is what you typed.

Ok, so why do you think they would disagree with the concept of a father supporting their baby/baby's mother during their pregnancy?

You may or may not be being deliberately obtuse, but you are clearly being obtuse. I did not say that. I said that the " millions of women against abortion at the front of the pro life movement" are doing nothing to show that they feel this is important and are doing nothing to indicate they want it to happen.

I simply said they would agree with it, why wouldn't they?  There's no reason to do anything because it's not really an issue.  It's just another ineffective internet meme that doesn't sound so clever once you actually think about it.

Interestingly, I just heard an interview on NPR with a state senator from one of the forced delivery states. He claims that clearly life begins at conception so they are passing a law banning abortions after 8 weeks of gestation. There is clearly a flaw in that logic.

He should miss his next period and then do the math.

What are all these politicians going to do now when they make their mistresses pregnant?

Well, the rules don't apply to _them_ of course.

Meet Scott LLoyd, anti-abortion proponent extraordinare.  He works for Trump overseeing care of underage detainees.  He has used his position to keep them from getting abortions, even when they had been raped.  He once wrote this:

"The Holocaust was the violent result of society assigning lesser value to a vulnerable segment of its population.  Abortion is the same exact thing. One can argue that we need to protect women, or they should be allowed to do what they want for their bodies. What prevents you from saying that German society needed protection and Germany was allowed to do what they wanted with their society?

The Jews who died in the Holocaust had a chance to laugh, play, sing, dance, learn, and love each other. The victims of abortion do not . . "

So abortion is like the Holocaust.  In fact, it is WORSE than the Holocaust.

Everyone knows what's coming next.

Turns out that in 2004 he wrote an essay on how he helped pay for his girlfriend to have an abortion.  Even drove her there.  From his essay:

"On the way there, I gave her the money, mostly in ones, for two reasons: 1) if I didn’t, I would be the enemy and she would stop listening to me and 2) because if she went through with it, I didn’t want to leave thinking it wasn’t my fault."

Then there is Tim Murphy, the pro-life Pennsylvania Republican who resigned after he pressured his mistress to get an abortion.   And Scott DesJarlais, who bragged about having a "100% pro-life voting record" - and who helped his then-girlfriend to get two abortions before they married, and who later pressured his 24 year old mistress to get one, too.  Staunch pro-lifer Elliot Broidy, former RNC deputy finance chairman, got a Playboy Playmate pregnant, got her an abortion and then paid $1.6m to keep it all quiet.

DesJarlais' example is a perfect example of GOP morality.  He has a 100% record of keeping such rights away from women - but for himself.

The rules never applied to them.

In the days before Roe vs Wade, abortion was reasonably accessible. It just took money to get it done safely.
No matter what laws are enacted (and maybe upheld), abortion will always available.

It just will be limited to those who have the means.

And it's become readily apparent that this law isn't about "life" or "babies" or any of the romanticized garbage the anti-abortion crowd claims.
It's about control.
The new law in Alabama defines an 'embryo' as a human being.

Unless it's in a lab. Then it doesn't count. Because it's not in a woman's body. It's only a 'human' if it's in a woman.

Really.

Then problem solved.  Carefully remove it with the intent to donate it to someone else someday.  Freeze it.  No worries.

Enough with the attacks.

Why do you think that being labeled as Obtuse is an attack?

Would you be offended if I sad someone was silly?

Or ridiculous?

We are all adults here, me thinks.

Besides - didn't you tell me in a comment that "You are obtuse?"

I choose to interpret the word from the mod as a gentle warning that I could be beginning to go in the wrong direction.

Alyssa Milano and Bette Midler are demanding a sex strike until body autonomy is acheived -

I was not aware that sex was an option with either of them...

Anyway, another instance of the right grabbing something a "lefty" says and acting like it's proclaimed as the 10 Commandments of Leftist Doctrine.

Part of the doctrine - not one of your religious 10 commandments.

AOC is in charge of those.:P

Only your commandments. The rest of us can think for ourselves.

They aren't mine -

Regarding thinking for yourselves, you'll have to do a bit more proving, because, just because you say a thing - doesn't make it true.

Georgia , another anti-abortion state, appears to be coming under pressure from companies such as Netflix, Disney etc. as they threaten to to pull filming and financing operations if the bill becomes law. I've also attached something that popped up in my FB feed that's food for thought.

Medical necessity should never be excluded.

But that's the problem. Neither Georgia or Alabama's legislation draws a distinction between a medically necessary abortion on the grounds of danger to the foetus, danger to the mother or unwanted pregnancy caused by rape/incest. It denies a woman control over her own body and treats her reproductive organs as chattels of the state on pain of imprisonment (including if she travels to a state where abortion is legal). It's Margaret Atwood's "A Handmaid's Tale" brought to life.

You don't have to sell me on it.

I was agreeing with you.

Is that at all Constitutional? It sounds like it shouldn't be, but that's no guarantee.
