airdvr 210 #1 Posted September 24, 2019 I didn't really know much more than the media's presentation of Gates. This was an eye opener. I've been looking for someone I could believe and trust when the subject matter was climate change. I don't think anyone can argue with the fact that Bill is really smart. I don't think his motivation when dealing with climate change is making a buck. So, for now I'll go with what Bill has to say about the problem. His work on the traveling wave reactor is promising. If only he can get the world to trust nuclear energy.

The free market is a great way to generate wealth. But it's only focused on that and will not stop to consider the consequences. We need balance to succeed long term. You can't eat your seed and then expect a crop next year. Even Jesus believed in paying taxes. Are you talking about the same 'free market' that found it more profitable to spew toxic chemicals into the air, creating acid rain? Or just dump those same toxins into the rivers and lakes, resulting in waterways that were essentially dead? Or flammable? Or simply destroy the environment to get at the resources below. Free market has it's place. But long term sustainability and survivability is not one of it's strong suits.

And yet you support the military, the #1 use of our discretionary tax money.
