Well, the convention speaker list is pretty telling.

The Ds had John Kasich and are reportedly planning on having Cindy McCain & Colin Powell.

The Rs are reportedly planning on having Nick Sandmann (the MAGA hat kid from the DC protests) and the McCloskeys (the St Louis couple who 'defended' their property with guns).

Hi folks,

For some time now, I have had the belief that the only votes that are 'up for grabs' is about 5% - 10% of the electorate.  The rest of know how we will be voting.

So the RNC voted to keep the 2016 party platform.

A platform which states (among other things):
 

"Our national debt is a burden on our economy and families. The huge increase in the national debt demanded by and incurred during the current Administration has placed a significant burden on future generations".  Well, that's an admission!

"We call on Congress to begin reclaiming its constitutional powers from the bureaucratic state by requiring that major new federal regulations be approved by Congress before they can take effect".   Good one there!

"Maintaining American preeminence requires a world-class system of education in which all students can reach their potential."  Betsy deVos must have misplaced the memo.

Etc. Etc.

 

With just about every member of the Trump family (except the sister and niece) set to speak, and Donald speaking every night, what they really mean is "we stand for anything Trump wants to do".

"Listings for rooms at the Trump International Hotel in D.C., via Hotels.com, show rooms for one adult on the night of the address starting at $795 and running as high as $2,070.

That price tag represents a massive increase from the $495 starting rate currently offered for the dates one week following and one week prior. For three days before Trump’s scheduled speech—which were originally scheduled to be the dates of the GOP convention in Charlotte, North Carolina—the hotel is charging $695 a night for its cheapest room. The hotel will begin charging $795 that Thursday, and continue through the weekend, before dropping back to $495 on Monday."
