ryoder 1,590 #1 Posted October 17, 2020 In response to a lawsuit by BuzzFeed News, the government said that just because Trump demanded that the Russia investigation be declassified, it doesn’t mean he wanted the Russia investigation to be declassified. wolfriverjoe 1,523 #3 October 17, 2020 I wondered how long it would take for someone to call his bluff. Apparently, there's a cabinet position (not Senate confirmed) that has the job of deciding which of Trump's idiotic statements should be followed & which should be ignored. As I mentioned elsewhere, they're arguing that the President's pronouncements don't make policy, the pronouncements of his staff make policy. Exactly what the Deep State would say... Exactly what the Deep State would say... Sure, though this wasn't a policy issue. President has the ability to declassify whatever he wants. He communicated he had declassified items. The federal government is now arguing he lied, his tweets cannot be trusted and his tweets mean nothing. Now, most people already know Trump is full of shit, if he is full of anything and isn't just an empty vessel. But for the government to argue the president is an empty vessel is rather....interesting.
wolfriverjoe 1,523 #8 October 19, 2020 Well, that's funny. A couple years back, Sean Spicer (remember him?) said that the twitter bullshit WAS official policy.https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/trump-s-tweets-official-statements-spicer-says-n768931 For those that don't remember, the idea of Trump using Twitter for official policy meant that his blocking of citizens was a case of the government restricting speech, therefore illegal. JerryBaumchen 1,362 #9 October 20, 2020 Hi folks, Once again a judge thwarts Trump: 'Court Vacates Trump Administration Rule' https://www.npr.org/2020/10/19/925497374/court-vacates-trump-administration-rule-that-sought-to-kick-thousands-off-food-s So much winning. The courts also said his personal account is official and therefor blocking people from his account would be illegal.
