Phil1111 1,149 #1 May 13, 2017 Ingus Augstkalns was lifted 1,082 feet (330 meters) into the air by a 28-propeller drone, dropped and parachuted safely back to the earth. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-4500720/Drone-lifts-daredevil-1-082ft-skydiving-jump.html

councilman24 37 #3 May 13, 2017 Military crap, when they're stable I want one to jump from myself. I've always wanted an ultralight with remote controls. Fly to altitude, jump with ultralight in auto orbit, land parachute, pick up remote and land ultralight. Now don't need the runway.Yeah, yeah the FAA won't like either. UFO time! They did pick a smart way to test it from base altitude to start with. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

And develop a silently opening parachute? Isn't that called subterminal? Hang a 4 person chairlift under a drone with 9000' capability and you'd have something. Unstable 9 #6 May 14, 2017 OK From the video it doesn't appear as if the Drone lifted him 1082' off the ground. Looks like he climb a tower and hung on a drone for a bit more altitude. Seems misleading. Am I missing something?=========Shaun ==========
Phil1111 1,149 #7 May 14, 2017 I'd guess it was a safety issue to get the jumper to a safe opening altitude in case something went wrong. i.e. oscillation The story lists 10 minutes power so presumably it could have climbed on its own to that altitude. It also lists a useful load of 440 lbs so it should have a good rate of climb with one jumper.
