Question for older gear (military type)

I was wondering what can be done if the data panel on old military type gear is damaged? If say a 28' pilot emergency chute has damage to the data panel and needs to be replaced. How can that be done? Would I have to make that repair in a way that the panel would not be removed?

Hi Cosmic,

I would recommend that you write up a repair procedure, including replacing the data panel information, and take it to your local FSDO for them to review & approve it.

Then do what it says to do.  

Keep your paperwork & pass it on to any future owner.

A few modified military-surplus canopies had the data panel carefully cut out and sewn to the bottom of another gore ... away from the new drive-window.
