Not to mention enough rounds of ammunition to kill every single American several times over. https://www.fbi.gov/file-repository/nics_firearm_checks_-_month_year.pdf/view Edited May 3, 2021 by brenthutch

I think about 80 miles of new wall was built. I am sure the tunnels under the old structures won't be effective against the new structures.

Can you not see that it speaks to the insanity and the inanity of the American gun culture you subscribe to? All it describes are dumb shits wasting their families money on useless guns and ammunition they will never use for defense. You know full well that most of those gun buyers don't have unlimited money and so something good they could have done will go undone. It's just plain stupid and you must know it. One thing about DZ's is that the cast of characters who are a daily part of the show are self vetted. People who think I'm an irredeemable asshole go somewhere else. Those who like my kind of asshole stay. So it is a self validating thing that can give you a very wrong impression of yourself if you aren't aware and cautious. Why stop at Dems and why stop at America. If there really is any logic in your logic or consistency in your philosophy shouldn't we want all 7.7 Billion people on Earth to have an AR-15 and a thousand rounds? JoeWeber 2,720 #967 May 4, 2021 12 minutes ago, RobertMBlevins said: Fair question. Once you remove the carrot(s), such as no free medical care, no schooling, no welfare or Food Stamps, no job hiring, an inability to open a US bank account, rent an apartment, buy a home, etc by anyone not holding a valid National ID card (or for not-yet-citizens, Green card)...then many of the people who were considering jumping the border illegally will no longer bother. There would be no percentage in it. Most of them will start coming to the front door instead. Of course, there will be a few who won't, but they won't get very far on just charity from friends and family. (If they have any in the US anyway) Due to the number of people already here illegally, there isn't any realistic way to round up something like 12 million people and just deport them all, so amnesty is needed. But only to the ones who aren't active or serious former criminals. This alone will drop the workload for the Immigration enforcement folks by 80% or more, leaving them more resources to root out the remainder. Once a series of 'No More Carrots' laws goes into place, this will force the 'good illegals' to come forward and get certified. Then you have no more problems with the vast majority of these 12 million people. Some other countries already do the No Carrots thing and have National ID's, which is why they don't need a wall. Sure, they get a few illegals, but not on the scale that the US does. Non answer.

Only they will have a much easier time of it, since their workload would be much less. The no-freebies stuff for illegals would be easy to enforce once Federal laws about them go into place. The only tricky part would be the no-jobs thing, but if you stiffen the penalties greatly, that would be pretty much enforceable. Employers who knew the laws were coming, and had illegals working for them, would encourage (demand) that they take the amnesty offer and GET legal. Interesting operations and enforcement plan. Eastern European communist satellite countries tried that one. They used barbed wire fences, spotlights, machine guns, and dogs. People still got out. I guess my point is that I can see no path to your solution in the USA. We can't even get consensus on basic science issues much less a National ID card. You can talk all day about enforcement of this or that but until you say we'll round them up, hand cuff them and very roughly toss them over the border into another country or jail you're not explaining how the enforcement will go. Until you say we'll toss any employers who don't go along with your honor system in the calaboose, too, and fine them huge money it's just fiction.
