I think there are a large number of republicans that say they support trump (because it is a cult and they have to) but when they get to the ballot box, they are leaving the presidential box blank.

Another week passes and still no SCOTUS decision on Trump's immunity.  The delaying tactic continues.

Clearly this constitutes election interference, but with this court there's no recourse.

So Judge Aileen Cannon once again shows that there's one law for the rich and powerful, and another for the rest of us.

Maybe that's what the founding fathers actually wanted, since they were all rich and powerful.  It's just become more blatant recently.

Sure he lost votes for this convictions. Just like he lost votes for "grabbing pussy", fraud, etc.. But there is enough undecided voters that get distracted, don't care, want low taxes, etc.

agreed, and I think there are MORE undecided voters that actually have a brain and know that inflation and gas prices has little to do with the president.  And those people might not like Joe, but they are NOT voting for the felon.

The NYT has a good current polling standings article today. In the swing states it doesn't look good for Biden.

Trump may make even more outrageous statements as the election comes closer. His several stalled legal matters make it very important for him to win.

I gave up predicting US election results after Bush V Gore. I've come to realize that the margins are so small that it comes down to who is motivated enough to turn up at the voting booth. And now mail in balloting makes it even harder to guess. I've also come to the conclusion that people lie to pollsters quite often. And then there is the unknown effect of RFK junior. Like you, I don't think Trump can win this time. Especially in the face of anger coming from those offended by the overturning of Roe. But I am wrong more often that I am right.

I hope you are correct, absolutely, but even typing in all caps won't add to the likelihood. Biden isn't Rocky Balboa and anyone planning for a knock out blow this Thursday might be disappointed. The sad truth is that average voters, as a whole, ain't too sharp, a fact made that much worse from them getting spoon fed filtered, biased news from social media sources. Simply stated,  they won't know what they think of the debate, or anything else for that matter, until they are told. A serious Biden misstep or lapse can get so blown out of proportion that Trump will win by default. In my view, Biden's advisors should all be head doctors prepping him to trigger a madman attack rather than trying to show Biden off as younger than he looks, a better statesman, and that he is much better qualified on the issues. That might work, seems to me: make the bastard cork.

all he has to do to get under trump's skin at the debate is to keep bringing up that he lost the election and that he is a convicted felon.  And maybe touch on the rapist bit too.

Trump of course is the narcissistic sociopath, so he believes he did nothing wrong and that he won the election so that will drive him bonkers.... but he is already bonkers.  Biden could easily get him spouting off enough stuff to land him in jail on gag order violations right before his sentgencing.
