Well don't stop there! 1) The microchips in my laptop are hot, but the wire from the wall is cold ! 2) If you took an IR picture inside my laptop, you can see "how" the cold motherboard warms the hotter microchips. lol There's virtually no end to this kind of sophistry. Quote What you're suggesting is that a campfire viewed from space is proof that the cold earth is transfering heat to a satellite much hotter than the normal ~-18C Earth as viewed from space. No, I'm not. I am just refuting your silly claim that energy only moves from hot things to cool things.

Zoe Phin 0 #429 March 2, 2021 And you still think the laser is powered by the cold machine, huh? And the cold wire leading up to it? And the cold power plant on the other side of the wire?
Zoe Phin 0 #430 March 2, 2021 Billvon, actually you're making a lot of sense. The parking lot next to the power plant is relatively cold. So yeah, The parking lot can definitely get your electric pot to boil water.

And a star with "proto-planets" where all objects are within 6x size range. That little difference of 6x vs. 4x somehow classifies it as a different thing. Yeah OK! Um, what are you talking about? Were you counting pixels again?

mistercwood 287 #435 March 3, 2021 Look she inspired me to finally look up the definition of sophistry (from an earlier post) and the irony overdose almost killed me.

She applied the Stefan-Boltzmann equation to anything that has W/m^2 even though it's not a blackbody. Edit: I did point out that photons don't have a temperature, their energy is measured in eV, but she ignored it (among many other things) Edited March 3, 2021 by olofscience

Good googaloo, man, this is nothing to waste a gloaticon on. To be edited out doesn't take being abusive, the post could merely be allusive, assholeish or it might just be Thursday. I keep all of mine in a small binder as reminders.
