More sacrifices to the 2nd Amendment

If you say so. I didn't say it.

Seems that the similarities are: someone pointed a gun, it went off, and someone got hurt. There will always be differences in the scenarios.

The similarity ends where SAG is involved and kids without knowledge, discipline, or direct supervision are given a responsibility that might cause an accidental game of Russian Roulette because they have a union card.

So the fact that in one case, the gun was a movie prop handed to an actor with the understanding it was loaded with blanks, and in the other case it was brandished by the owner who knew it was loaded for the purposes of intimidation, are similar. Got it.

It's the Alec Baldwin defense.

No it's not.

If Brent Metz and the two teens had been paid to be in this scene, and Metz had been handed a gun by an armorer who told him it was loaded with blanks, and a director had told Metz "OK I want you to walk up to the car, point it at the teenager and pull the trigger," and Metz said "OK" and then did that - then it would be similar.

But since there is not a single similarity between the two - no, there is nothing similar about them.

This stuff won't be taken seriously if the 'special" people can get away with it.

Hi Bill,

Once again, you show that you post without doing your homework on the issue[s] at hand.

Sad, really; because I think you do care about some issues.

Please stop making assumptions, you're better than that. Many of the issues/differences are known and understood.

Some feel that being on a movie set means that there's no personal responsibility. With the movie-making rules, guidelines, etc. I see how one could have that conclusion. As we now know, rules don't always work, duh. I was brought up to check a firearm regardless of who gave it to me, regardless of if I had previously checked it or watched it being checked. For some that seems excessive but it ensures that there are no "accidental discharges." Seems that the movie peeps should modify their safety protocols.

My issue is that Baldwin repeatedly and adamantly claimed that he didn't pull the trigger. Experts examined the gun and determined that it could not have gone off without the trigger being pulled. In his trial the attorney said in his opening statement, "Baldwin may be wrong, and that he may have pulled the trigger. He argued that would still not make him criminally negligent." The attorney also said, "He called the issue a “shiny object,” meant to distract from the key fact that the gun would have been harmless had it not been loaded with a real bullet — a grave violation of film industry safety standard."

The Metz case has distinct differences. Willful, purposeful, no one handed him the gun saying it was safe, the person shot didn't die, etc. Wonder why he said, "oh s---, my gun went off." Trying for the Baldwin defense? Apparently to cryptic for some to follow.

The Baldwin case disappeared due to legal technicalities, as it should have. The prosecution mishandled evidence.

People don't remember details, what they remember are sound bites and summaries. What they remember is Baldwin killed someone and wasn't punished. Hopefully the Metz case will be different.

My point was, and what was stated is, at the end of the day in both cases a guy pointed a gun, pulled the trigger and someone was shot. To say there are no similarities, as some have stated, is simply false.

The individuals involved are also similar such that they are also members of the same species, which is interesting but hardly relevant. Like you, I also safe any gun handed to me no matter the qualifications of the giver. I also take great care where I point a gun regardless of whether I personally safed it or not. Nor do I consider any gun safe just because the safety is on. The point is that just because Baldwin plays a gunslinger on TV doesn't mean he has a good understanding or practice of safe fire arms behavior anymore than he would understand warp drives when playing an alien. It could be that just like a trusting student accepting a final gear check from a JM before jumping his accepting a "safed" gun from a qualified, SAG card carrying, gun handler was what he and his co-workers considered safe. Maybe his checking of the handlers work would be considered insulting in that line of work. As far as pulling the trigger goes, have you ever sat in a goose pit and the guy in the next pit over had a discharge as he was standing to shoot? Maybe Baldwin was lying about that but maybe he is also a victim of his own ignorance and has bouts of normal, human, mis-rembering. To my mind, unless the safety protocols on the set included a responsibility by him to recheck the "experts" work he should get a pass and the handler should get a cell.

He and Kristi Noem should get together.

Why is it that whenever a republican accuses a democrat of doing something, it turns out that they are the ones engaging in what they are accusing others of?

Trump: "They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists."

Denny Hastert: "it is equally important to stop those predators before they strike, to put repeat child molesters into jail for the rest of their lives and to help law enforcement with the tools they need to get the job done."

Roy Moore pledges to "uphold the sanctity of marriage as between one man and one woman" - anything else leads to "child abuse . . .we have sodomy, we have murder, we have rape, we have all kind of immoral things happening because we have forgotten God.”

Trump: "The Biden regime’s weaponization of our system of justice is straight out of the Stalinist Russia horror show,"

the group of men — allegedly upset with BK for not using his litter box — cut off BK’s paws before stringing him up and setting him on fire, ultimately killing him. A passerby who heard BK’s screams as he was being tortured notified police.

That is genuinely psycopathic. That someone like that is even allowed to own a gun, let alone making them his entire identity and career, is terrifying.

Agreed.  And if he ever does anything like that to a human, gun supporters will bow their heads sadly and say "no way anyone could have known.  Can't punish everyone for the misdeeds of a few crazy people."

Of course, if he ever does anything like that to a human, he'd also have a good shot at the GOP nomination for president.

Five dead in Fall City, WA - two adults and three children.

So far we are at a total of 482 mass shootings this year, resulting in 575 dead and 1945 wounded.  In the entire year there have only been 78 days (little over two months out of ten) where there have been NO mass shootings.

A 15-year-old boy accused of killing his parents and three siblings at their home in Washington state shot them and then called police to claim that one of the victims killed his family and then himself, according to court documents.

The boy was charged Thursday with five counts of murder and one count of attempted murder in the slayings Monday morning in Fall City.

Two adults and three children — 7, 9 and 13 years old — were found dead shortly before 5 a.m. Monday after a shooting was reported at a home in the Lake Alice Road neighborhood in Fall City, about 25 miles east of Seattle.

"The surviving 11-year-old sibling told police that her 15-year-old brother shot her and her family with a Glock handgun that belonged to their father, the probable cause statement says."

The gun most likely to kill you is one that you own.

The 15-year-old staged the scene, then called 911 and claimed his 13-year-old brother was the killer and that he survived by hiding in a bathroom.  He thought everyone was dead, but his 11-year-old sister was wounded and survived by playing dead, then escaped through a window.  If she had not survived, it's conceivable the killer might have gotten away with it.

I have a vague recollection that years ago someone who used to post in SC murdered her parents and tried to frame her brother for the crime.  Does anyone else recall that story, or is it just some fever dream of mine?
