177,000+ in the last war would disagree with you - if they could.

The last war? We aren't talking about war.

You missed the point.

If we are going to accept that every trained vet should be exempt from giving up pretend war weapons (now with bump stocks allowed), as you just did,

Not even close to saying that. Until the law is changed, why would they surrender their guns.

Out of the goodness in their hearts? To set a great example as veterans who should know better? Because we shouldn't need mommy and daddy or congress people to decide what is right and wrong?

That's not really moderate from a societal perspective, seems to me.

You've made it clear that it's all just a schtick.

Your schtick, not mine.

No, Joe. Not at all.

Then why don't you just drop your fleet of a/c as the great example of how not to add CO2 to the environment.  Why are there laws at all?

I understand. You've made it clear several times.

You might not have noticed that I have not come out in favor of Aircraft CO2 control. Mostly, I'm convinced we're plain fucked unless some miracle technology happens in real time and have said so. It's not that AGW isn't real it's just that the headwinds are too severe. You have very much come out in favor of gun regulations but, apparently, when it comes to your friends, not so much. So you know, I've done a crap load of things both inside and outside of the jump biz for the right reasons even when it caused economic pain.

I'm really not sure the direction of this. If there is no regulation . . . You want me to beat 'em up?

How can you tell the difference?

Not a lawyer, but think that depending on jurisdiction is about the same.

Ohio: Fail to prevent or halt the commission of an offense or to apprehend an offender, when it is in the law enforcement officer’s power to do so alone or with available assistance. https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/harrison/latest/harrison_oh/0-0-0-10250

Seemingly everywhere: don’t do your  job and get a paid two year leave while the police union investigates.

IMO there's no reason for bump stocks or binary triggers to be publicly available

I understand the suppressors. They reduce recoil and are commonly used for hog and coyote control. I'm not as concerned about them because they are highly regulated.
Recently discovered a company in CA that makes a recoil reduction product that also "redirects" the sound but it's not classified as a suppressor.  Infinite Product Solutions – Barrel Thread Adapters, Cleaning Kits

In S Africa guns are highly regulated yet suppressors are a $200 over the counter item. One can own 4 guns: two rifles, a shotgun and a handgun. An application is required and permission from local enforcement is needed. No semi or auto rifles are allowed. If the gun is lost or stolen one can end up in jail. They will visit your house, inspect your security practices and one better have a great excuse for how it disappeared. If it's used in a crime one will go to jail. They are tracked and regular renewal is required. When a sportsman takes a rifle to Africa the serial number is recorded and listed on the flight ticket. When exiting the country that same gun better be in ones possession.

I can get behind all of that. Thank you Bill.

Those are flash suppressors or compensators not sound suppressors (silencers). A sound suppressor slows down and cools gas to reduce the sound of gunfire. A flash suppressor reduces the visibility of flaming gas. A sound suppressor also reduces muzzle flash, it’s a side effect of the gas containment. A flash suppressor, on the other hand, offers no sound reduction.

All a flash suppressor/compensator does is redirect the sound from front to side or side to front. Final note: A sound suppressor (silencer) doesn't eliminate all sound. For the most part, it reduces the sound by X db and there is a an after Y number of yards formula that the sound can't be heard.

Totally useful information for everyone in a modern society; way more useful than just banning both or knowing when to put the bay leaf in the spaghetti sauce.

At one time children learned to hide under desks for air raids. Now they are being taught how to keep from bleeding out if shot.

I sincerely wish America was as concerned about school shootings as they are ear shootings.

Isn't an American president more important than a school full of children? After all unborn children get ferocious protections. As do current and past presidents. But children are taught active shooter drills again and again. It important to develop "muscle memory" in children so they react quickly. American children are run through an average of 70 active shooter drills by the time they leave high school.

"since 2009, the United States had about 57 times as many school shootings as Canada, Japan, Germany, Italy France and the United Kingdom combined."

Schools teach techniques to help children to stay calm during school shootings. Giving tips on how to protect themselves.“I was asking him about his lockdown drills, and he was explaining that you have to sit in the middle of the carpet,” Peterson said.

I said, ‘Why do you have to sit in the middle of the carpet,’ and he said, ‘Because in case bullets fly through the windows.’ And he wasn't particularly anxious about that,”

No word yet if the sounds of gun fire or machine gun fire will be played through the schools PA system to condition the children to stay calm and quiet.

You put the bay leaf in the tomato sauce first for long summer with garlic.  After you sear your ground venison harvested with the above suppressors you add a small half bay leaf at the end for layered depth of flavor.
