billvon 3,063 #2201 February 10, 2023 Not the US, but yet another pro-gun guy killed by his own gun. A pro-gun lawyer in Brazil walked into an MRI room with his gun stuck in his waistband. It was pulled out by the magnet and then shot him fatally in the abdomen as it was departing the vicinity. Will be hard for pro-gun types to explain how this is an example of "guns don't kill people, people kill people." Perhaps in this case it's "guns don't kill people, MRI magnets kill people." https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/brazil-lawyer-death-mri-gun-b2279514.html#Echobox=1676003789

No, a license is not required to make a firearm solely for personal use. You cannot manufacture 60 sears and say they're for personal use. You have to have a license to manufacture those parts.

BIGUN is right. Judges are not stupid. Minneapolis Man Charged with Using 3D Printers to Manufacture Machineguns "MINNEAPOLIS – A Minneapolis man has been charged in a federal criminal complaint for possessing auto sears and using 3D printers to manufacture auto sears out of his Minneapolis residence, announced U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger. According to court documents, on August 31, 2022, law enforcement conducted a controlled delivery of a package containing 30 firearm parts to Aaron Malik Cato, 25, at his Minneapolis residence. The package, which had been shipped from Taiwan and intercepted by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents, contained enough parts to create 10 auto sears, a device that turns a semi-automatic firearm into a fully automatic firearm and is considered a machinegun under federal law. Upon searching Cato’s home, pursuant to a warrant, law enforcement recovered seven firearms, including five handguns and two AR platform firearms. Three of the handguns were equipped with auto sears and appeared to be Privately Made Firearms (PMF’s), or ghost guns. Law enforcement also found inside Cato’s residence four 3D printers and multiple 3D printed auto sears." Sept. of last year.

No, but they do take up such a huge proprtion of public funds there is nothing left to prevent the kind of mental health crises (along with a lot of other things like homelessness in general) they spend an immense amount of time and money responding to. This is not a novel concept, right Bill? I haven't just flown down from Mars and pointed this out for the first time, have I? A little bit of good faith in your responses would be appreciated. This is just ridiculous. No way should anyone with a shred of intellectual honesty be defending this guy irrespective of what a lawyer might win in court. We do not need to add private factories printing parts for the "personal" conversion of dozens of weapons to automatic fire added to every other gun rights absurdity this country suffers. Your position is just shameful.

"The son of a former Arkansas lieutenant governor and grandson of a former governor was sentenced Friday in federal court to 52 months in prison on one count of transfer of a machine gun. Louis Henry Rockefeller, 25, son of the late Lt. Gov. Win Paul Rockefeller and grandson of the late Gov. Winthrop Rockefeller, pleaded guilty...In addition to the four years and four months he will spend in prison, Rockefeller was also ordered to serve three years on supervised release and to pay a $100,000 fine.... a number of 3D printed drop-in auto sears and what are known as "Glock switches," which convert AR-style rifles and Glock semi-automatic pistols to fire a full magazine with one trigger pull... Gibbons testified to several sales of machine guns and auto-sears between Rockefeller and undercover officers, as well as a cooperating witness who came to police attention after he was arrested with a converted Glock pistol during a drug interdiction operation. During a recording of one transaction played in court, Rockefeller could be heard telling the confidential informant how to install a drop-in sear into an AR style rifle and offering him a discount if he would bring him more customers." Why? Are you and Brent going into business together? He has a sort of laissez-faire idea of gun laws. BIGUN has proven Brent wrong on many questions of gun laws. That drug dealer wasn't making and selling meth to addicts, he was just using his private factory to convert chemicals into cash! Nothing wrong with that. American ingenuity at work. Solomon Pena wasn't hiring hitmen to kill democrats, he was just using his own hard earned money to employ local workers and enrich them and their families! Only a communist would be against capitalism and families.

piisfish 140 #2224 February 11, 2023 Not 2nd amendment as it was in Brasil, and turned out to be a rather surprising Darwin Award… a Brazilian lawyer, advocating for gun carrying, went to assist his mother for an MRI. After receiving instructions to remove all metal objects, he failed to remove his gun. When the MRI machine was turned on, the magnetic field somewhat actioned the gun and shot him. Despite being quickly treated, he died a couple of days later. https://healthimaging.com/topics/medical-imaging/magnetic-resonance-imaging-mri/lawyer-who-was-shot-his-own-gun-mri-suite
