I would prefer Congress in general to work to strengthen the documented system, even if it’s at their own personal expense, rather than weaken it. And by documented, I mean not including all the lobbyists, dark money, and influence. Just the straight up “donate to and vote for a candidate you support,” and accept that sometimes the majority rules

And today we hear that Trump promises everyone new "freedom cities" and flying cars.  And let me guess - Mexico will pay for all of it.

So Trump held a rally for the auto workers union at Drake Enterprises, a nonunion factory, to show his support for auto workers.  There were about 600 people there.

One reporter got curious about who was there, since Drake only employs about 150 people.  So the reporter asked one person with a “union members for Trump” sign - she said she was not actually in the union.  Another person with an “auto workers for Trump” sign admitted he wasn’t an autoworker.

Looks like Trump fooled everyone again.  I wonder how much he paid those people to show up?  Maybe nothing.  Maybe he just got word out that any Trump supporters who want to pretend to be auto workers for a few hours would be admtted.

I thought it was odd that Trump had agreed to a bench trial. So today we learned why:

John Kelly, retired Marine general and Trump's former chief of staff, was asked by a reporter if there was anything he wanted to add about the latest revelations over Trump's criminality.  His response:

"What can I add that has not already been said?  A person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ‘suckers’ because ‘there is nothing in it for them.’ A person that did not want to be seen in the presence of military amputees because ‘it doesn’t look good for me.’ A person who demonstrated open contempt for a Gold Star family – for all Gold Star families – on TV during the 2016 campaign, and rants that our most precious heroes who gave their lives in America’s defense are ‘losers’ and wouldn’t visit their graves in France.  A person who is not truthful regarding his position on the protection of unborn life, on women, on minorities, on evangelical Christians, on Jews, on working men and women.  A person that has no idea what America stands for and has no idea what America is all about. A person who cavalierly suggests that a selfless warrior who has served his country for 40 years in peacetime and war should lose his life for treason – in expectation that someone will take action. A person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law.  There is nothing more that can be said.  God help us.”

Odd that the strongest enemies of Trump - and the people Trump hates the most - are the people who worked most closely with him.

It is nice to see John Kelly finally stepping up to the plate.  Late, but better than not at all.

I'll give him credibility when he openly campaigns against Trump.  And, that does not mean just abstaining from voting next yr.

John Kelly, Mark Milley and Jim Mattis all thought that they could control or steer trump towards integrity, towards righteousness. All failed and if these three men couldn't do it prison sure won't either.

The DOJ judiciary will do that. His rants of disrespect for the justice system is not unnoticed by judges. Some of them may be lackeys for god and the conservative right. But most abhor criminals especially if they deserve a smack-down.

His own USSC may deliver the final word as to if this trial was political and corrupt. To trump's dismay.

Nothing odd about it in the least.

He has no concept of 'honor', 'integrity' 'patriotism' (the real kind, not the 'performance' kind), 'courage', 'honesty', or any of a LOT of other positive traits.

Kelly, Mattis, Milley and a variety of others who served on Trump's staff, those who HAD those qualities, saw Trump for who and what he is.
Trump also got to see men with those qualities. And saw how lacking he was in those areas.

So of course Trump hates them. He knows they know his failings.

And of course, those men are Trump's strongest enemies. For the exact same reason.
