The way you talk about being in the military and bragging reminds me of when my son was 15/16 and wanted to join the military and  be some kind of Rambo.

As he’s gone through the special ops selection and training he talks a lot less about guns and what a hero he is. In fact the arrogance is gone and replaced by a quiet confidence and you would be hard pressed to get him talking about ‘work’ these days.

If you’ve got to tell people you have the skills, you probably don’t.
