As rushmc has bragged and trumpeted several times. Walmart rolls back DEI programs after right-wing backlash

"The company said Monday it is ending racial equity training programs for staff and evaluating programs designed to increase supplier diversity. Walmart has worked to increase the number of suppliers that are at least 51% owned or managed by a woman, minority, veteran or someone who is LGBTQ in recent years.

The company is also reviewing all funding of Pride and other events and monitoring its online marketplace to remove sexual or transgender products marketed to children. Walmart also said it will not extend its Center for Racial Equity, a five-year, $100 million philanthropic commitment the company made in 2020 to address the root causes of gaps in outcomes of African Americans in education, health, criminal justice and other areas."

All after a conservative activist targeted Walmart. This follows Budweiser, Deere, Tractor Supply, HD, etc. Conservatives have the courts, the presidency, the house the senate and will appoint untold thousands of radical judges to the bench over the next four years.

Walmart is not doing this because it is the right thing to do, they are doing it to cover their ass and be in favor with the new administration as opposed to fighting them over what is right or wrong.  Disney tried that a few years ago with Desantis and in the end it all worked out but still, much damage was done in the name of ideology....

Thanks for the honesty it shows character. We won? Not so much. Please don't look at it from the usual partisan binary, Win/ Lose.

I contemplate the truisms in MLK words. The truism,  no matter the party ringing true, today.  Our Constitution, the Bill of Rights and Our Amendments. We All Win.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

So fix them.  Fixing homes is way, way, way easier than creating new housing.  The barrier isn't poor condition; the barrier is that the owners won't let them be used for housing.

So, again, make them standard.  A solar power system, composting toilet and water deliveries gives them all the basics.  In cold areas get them a stove.  In hot areas an A/C in one room.

All of which is MUCH MUCH cheaper than building new housing.

i could see doing that with homes that have been forfeited due to back taxes.

It's more useful as a mysterious trove of "bad stuff 'bout Biden" that someone nefarious is keeping hidden.  It's like Maxwell's mysterious list.  Every time they release more material from the trial Trump's name appears several times, so republicans say "no, we want the REAL list, the one that has Bill Clinton on it!"  At this point they've released all the material from the trial, but republicans want to keep the mystery alive.

How does that work?

He got minorities to vote in historic numbers for (R) because... He's racist.

He is a better liar than he is a racist.  Remember, he's an adherent to the theory of The Big Lie - and has made it work for him.

Heck, women voted for him because he told he would protect them.  But he raped one and he assaulted 26 others, and women are dying in record numbers because of his policies.  He lies - and they believe what he says and not what he does.

Looks like he fooled you too.

He’s not really fooled, he just doesn’t give a fuck and this is the easy get out clause.

If you say thing X happened they’ll scream and shout that people only believe thing X because the media brainwashed them and people will believe anything they’re told.

If you say thing Y happened they’ll say ha! People don’t believe thing Y happened so it didn’t happen because people are always smart enough to see the truth!

It looks like the poison that is DEI/Woke is becoming more widely recognized.

If the verbiage in your typical DEI screed had black and white reversed, your basic KKK type would find it offensive.

Promoting 'good' racism and sexism is still racism and sexism, and every bit as odious.

DEI/Woke is anathema to unity and equality, and people who support said ism are reprehensible.

That's right. Hiding names on resumes is a disgraceful woke policy.

How am I supposed to find the white men if I cannot see their names?

Certainly more bigots are aware that it's a good pejorative.  It's the new "communist."

I, for one, am happy that those horrible racists/DEI hires/idiots like Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, Harvey Milk, Billie Jean King, Thurgood Marshall and John Lewis have been spreading their poison across the US.

"A recently published study from the Network Contagion Research Institute, titled “Instructing Animosity: How DEI Pedagogy Produces the Hostile Attribution Bias,” has now proven what many of us could have guessed—rather than cultivating “inclusive environments” and “greater empathy in interpersonal interactions,” DEI initiatives breed paranoia and resentment, compelling employees to see discrimination where none exists."

When time allows, I thought you would enjoy this video and the work  being done on the Pedagogy of DEI, its unintended consequences.

Humous part we now have a mind map of woke, dei pedagogy.

MLK is not woke, neither are many of the others.

Intersectionality and "content of your character" being subjective to culture are hallmarks of woke.  MLK did not say, "content of your character unless you came from a disadvantaged family"

Being woke is being alert to injustice in society.  That's the actual definition, not the word salad of the day from FOX News.

You going to argue that MLK was not alert to injustice in society?  Have you ever heard any of his speeches?

Intersectionality and "content of your character" being subjective to culture are . . .

. . . the sorts of word salads you come up with when you try to redefine something to make it sound bad.

Quote

MLK did not say, "content of your character unless you came from a disadvantaged family"

He said that he and other black people "are coming to [DC to] get our checks" - money owed to them specifically because they had been disadvantaged by the government.

Got any dressing for that word salad?

MLK supported a unifying vision of humanity and was not down with identity politics as they are today in 2024 (or 2022 I should say).  MLK addressed economic and racial issues, his work didn't explicitly incorporate concepts like intersectionality or modern discussions around gender and LGBTQ+ rights. He explicitly called out "content of your character".  Whereas the woke crowd says you can't judge people that come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

From a practical standpoint when you allow intersectionality and stack ranking oppressed groups (black, gay, trans) vs (latino, cis) for example it dilutes the whole conversation around legitimate racial inequalities and grievances.

Lol, OK. MLK didn't explicitly discuss concepts that hadn't been fucking invented yet and therefore he wouldn't have liked them. Grade A analysis yet again sir.

So do most civil rights activists today - no matter how the right tries to twist it.

He talked mostly about race and not LGBTQ+ rights because (check this out) he was black and his primary - but not only -  cause was civil rights for blacks.  And, of course, the term "LGBTQ+" had not been coined yet.

And intersectionality?  He was the father of intersectionality.  He spoke regularly on the intersecting evils of militarism, capitalism, and racism.  In his own words: "Now I know that there are people who are confused about the war and they say to me and anybody who speaks out against it, “You shouldn’t be speaking out. You’re a civil rights leader, and the two issues should not be joined together.” Well … the two issues are tied together. And I’m going to keep them together."

OK.  MLK disagreed - quite strenously.  He explicitly talked about the intersection of oppressed groups; in the case above, the injustice of the war and its connection to racial inequalities.

yes he addressed economic and racial issues because those were the issues of the day, and people like you hated black people, hence they had economic and racial issues.

fast forward to today, you now hate on LGBTQ and tarns and whatever other issues OAN tell you to hate on, and for EXACTLY the same reasons that people hated MLK and the like back then.

you do know that we can read the stuff you write right?
