The Midterms for Democrats

OK. She's both a sexist and a racist.

Just because a source you listen to says it, even one you generally trust, doesn’t make it true. Also, pretty much every single person has done things that could be considered either sexist and/or racist. I have, I’m sure you have, I’ll bet even Billvon has.

Because, all it takes is for a single person to say it, and a single one to repeat it, and it becomes settled truth.

I still cannot wrap my head around what Oz was thinking when, after all the work he put into becoming a doctor, and eventually professor of surgery at Columbia, he decided to throw it all away to become a snake-oil salesman.

You're missing the bigger picture. Step back, no farther back.

Its all about the money. The Doctor Oz Show” he takes in a yearly salary of $20 million, and according to his May 2022 financial disclosure, his assets, along with his wife's, are between $104 and $422 million, which makes his net worth around $200 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth"

He is just a legal version of Alex Jones. Or a televangelist who tosses values and beliefs to the curb. spacer.pngFor a new G-700

There were a LOT of sources. Many of them left of center and in the end, she won $2.75 million. Now, imagine if she had an R after her name. The lot on here would be crucifying her with adjectives and a couple of nouns.

In other words you know almost nothing about the real circumstances or you don’t care. The only thing that upsets you is that you perceive that theoretically someone else might be treated differently. This is typical right wing thinking these days.

I did go read about it. As a woman, I have some experience with that whole pay thing, and I can identify personally with the plaintiff's shock at discovering how much less she earned than the other attorneys. I've been there. What I did, though, was talk with my manager, giving him my specific information, and get an explanation and an adjustment. I hope that the plaintiff did that. As far as the "leaving to take care of a family emergency" part? I'd say that the employee was 100% right on that, and the employer 100% wrong. Barring there being more to the story.

OTOH, I find this to be significantly less appalling than being an election denier. Really. Because the eye of the public is on Hobbs how (and I hope she remembers it), I'm assuming that she'll be a little more forthright in recognizing that she needs to play a more active role in situations. She'd better be.

Interesting note, the plaintiff wasn't paid her $350,000 settlement (the post-cap amount) until after a news story brought it up, about a year after the verdict. It's up to the Arizona Senate as a whole to deal with that.

So "a LOT of sources" don't know the difference betwen a civil suit and a criminal conviction, nor do they know how to find the named defendants in a suit.

She did that on more than one occasion.

And, her employer was a degreed social worker.

I'm not suggesting any favor towards Kari Lake. I've made clear that Trump and his tribe of followers needs to dissolve. What I'm addressing is the hypocrisy of attitude towards Dems if the R's did the exact same thing.

So were other people. She wasn't the sole decision maker. But the employer certainly has an issue with a wage gap. Institutional sexism and racism is something Republicans say doesn't exist.

I remember a conversation with Bigun where he refused to acknowledge well documented (by multiple sources, including the US armed forces themselves) racism in the US forces because he didn't see it personally. Hence, find it a little odd he is making this accusation now. Specially since the court on appeal clearly stated race had nothing to do with it.

It was an accusation devoid of fact based purely on partisanship. I had learned to expect more from Bigun.

Civil suit and Hobbs was not even named as a defendant.  Civil suits don't result in convictions.  If they did Trump would be in prison for fraud in (at least) two separate cases.

Kari Lake (Trumpist and Liar).

Hi John,

Yup.  That is a legal lesson for today's class.

Hi Keith,

You write that as if it were a statement of fact.   It is your opinion, nothing more.

PS)  And, I disagree with you.  I have pointed more than one D in the Another Scumbag thread.

Yep.  Accused of vague and undefined inappropriate behavior by a woman who really, really wanted a job.  Accused of not letting a girl do programming on a robot because she was a girl.  And several others.

It was heartening to see how mad some of my closer friends got when they heard about that.

Partly true. The discussion revolved around racism in general and the progress we'd made from the civil rights movement (in general). With regard to the military; we had racism, but it was quickly tempered by everyone around. You don't fuck with those you may be going into battle with. My time in SF; I did not see it - everyone had the same training and expertise and "if" it had reared it's ugly head, there would be some quick wall-to-wall counseling.

But, you guys go ahead and defend the racist Democrat.  I'm the partisan.

Lots of racist dems. Recently  The Los Angeles City Council censures members involved in racist conversation was discussed here.

Maga republicans enable easy and frequent targets to identify republican racism. It doesn't mean that every republican MAGA ideologue is one.

Thanks, Phil. But, IMO there's more propensity towards racism in MAGA, than in just Republican. There's plenty of racism in both parties and when we of that party see it, need to out it, not make excuses, or act as if it isn't there. or say the other side has more.

For certain. Republicans are tainted greatly by MAGA. Now that the last moderates have been run out of the party. i.e. Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger. Who will lead them?

Ops forgot that republican from Utah, the Mormon guy....Oh Yeah Mitt Romney. I thought maybe he died.

DeSantis?? " In DeSantis’s telling, the honest people of Florida were besieged by a vast array of liberal scourges: big tech, IRS agents, George Soros, the Biden administration, the corporate media, illegal immigrants, Anthony Fauci, police defunders, Disney, China, communism, cancel culture, critical race theory, and woke gender ideology. Only Ron DeSantis was brave enough to confront these malign forces."

Out of curiosity. Why do you think you're the only moderate, level headed republican in SC?

The court specifically said it had nothing to do with racism. I am not defending a Democrat, I am questioning your baseless attack.

So where did you post your criticism of Marjorie Taylor Greene's bigoted opinions?  Certainly not in this forum.

I didn't see any posts from you criticizing Jim Quinn.  He was a talk show host who was a protege of Rush Limbaugh, and has come up with gems like referring to the National Organization for Women as the "National Organization for Whores", and claiming that "they're whores for liberal politics in general, and they were whores for Bill Clinton in particular."  During his show he claimed the station's news director was a slut, and lost the resulting sexual harassment lawsuit to the tune of half a million dollars.

Since you didn't post your criticism of him, does that mean you support him?
