lekstrom10k 0 #126 April 29, 2011 I got 6 out of Tecumsehs on the past week-end Great plane. As far as the PAC goes BFD cramped and low door never made it with me. I couldnt see the bragging about it. Wish the Kodiak was out pre Caravan days. Dont tell Franz I said great choice, it would go to his head

freefalljason 0 #130 April 29, 2011 QuoteMine is in Tecumseh. The only other one I know of ,flying jumpers is the one from RAPA in Germany. I might be wrong. Won't be the first time Thanks for the reply. I think your right. I haven't heard of anyone else hauling jumpers in one. Blue Skies, Jason

robes 0 #138 August 1, 2012 Interesting thread on what seems to be a great aircraft. I was impressed with the quality of build with it and it should be a tuff strong airframe for many years. When i first saw the Kodiak at Airventure in '08 the first thing i noticed was the wing. I have seen it before fitted to several amphib Beavers in the Whitsundays Australia way back in 2001. The Beavers had extended fuse and seated 10 pax and performed much better with the new wing but limited to the old tired radials. Looking forward to seeing the Kodiak being used here in Oz. only chance for me tho is winning the 50million on thursday night. More reports from DZ operators as they log more hours would be nice to read. cheers robes

Ron 10 #141 August 2, 2012 QuoteWhen we did the comparisons between the PAC, Caravan and the Kodiak we looked at the following before buying it. i'm not going to compare the Caravan as it was eliminated early. If I may ask... sundevil777 102 #142 August 2, 2012 Quotehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMcEpHNTLmY Speaking of the Kodiak. That step on the outside looks great, could be very nice for the taller folks, like some Porters have. Does anyone know if that was a custom job, or did it come that way from Quest? I so wish a step like that that was common on Caravans.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. RMURRAY 1 #143 May 12, 2015 any disadvantages to the Kodiak for skydiving? For example C of G issues? Would be interested to hear from owner/operators...
justme12001 0 #144 May 12, 2015 Skydive Carolina had one for a little while, it was a very nice plane. I think they got rid of it because of the slow climb rate. I think time to 14,000 was around 25 min. Maybe it was just that particular plane, I'm not sure if they are all slow(ish)
MidwestFreefall 0 #145 May 13, 2015 No Kodiak is that slow. I operated one for a year. No CG issues, respectable climb rate, comfortable for jumpers. Not a bad a/c at all. Slower than a PAC, faster than a 675 Caravan. PM for more opinions. Don't do it here, though - use randy@midwestfreefall.com.
zoobrothertom 5 #146 May 13, 2015 Good to hear. I was a little skeptical about the slow climb rate comment above. I loosely followed the development of the Kodiak over the years and was hoping one would make it to a DZ somewhere. Cheers____________________________________ I'm back in the USA!! justme12001 0 #147 May 14, 2015 The one at Skydive Carolina is the only one I have seen or ridden in, so like I said maybe they got a bad one. I was gone from there for awhile and most of that time was when they had the Kodiak. Maybe you could contact someone there and get their opinions, as I only got to use it a few times. Hell maybe they just wanted a different plane and used that as an excuse to get rid of it.
JohnMitchell 16 #148 May 14, 2015 Pilot technique is also a factor in climb rates. I've seen more efficient pilots have much faster block times than less efficient pilots in the exact same plane.
mirage62 0 #149 May 14, 2015 If you ever got to Skydive Atlanta and flew in there otter or King air you will see as close to perfect pattern and efficacy in climb as I have ever seen in jump planes. Trey the owner and sometime pilot trains his pilots to fly it right and increases the production of the airplanes. As a pilot it is very impressive and as a jumper I like the turns.Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
