SkymonkeyONE 4 #26 January 12, 2015 I've always been a proponent of prioritizing suit over rig. Reason: you want to remove as many variables as possible early on in your jumping career. a Good suit can last you over a decade (assuming you don't bust your ass all the time), but you will likely want to downsize main and or container size much sooner than that. Still, these days, the FIRST thing I recommend a young skydiver buy is and altimeter and a three-tone audible. Chuck
AdrenalineGear 0 #27 January 24, 2015 You said you're about to move to Korea for a year so if you buy a rig now it will be sitting for some time losing value, at least the AAD. It would lose more than you can find a decent used suit for. You also may not want to jump the same size canopy you are now after a year off so when you move back you might still be renting a few times anyway. Also there is fewer decisions that go into a suit over a rig. Buy a suit now and take your time thinking about what you want in a rig. Also like others have said an alti, helmet, and audible should come before a suit or a rig."Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure.
