JoanYunger4 0 #1 Posted July 21, 2022 I met Whitey in August, 1976, in Hinckley IL. He introduced me to skydiving and we spent much of the remaining summer together. I left for school in September and he was in Hawaii by January, 1977 to start up his sports agency, Take the Day Off. I lost touch with him in 1980 after I moved to CA. I live in San Diego. I'm a writer and I do a lot of research. I read about the 2019 plane crash at Dillingham Airfield and I began to look for Whitey. It wasn't easy--took a few years--but on May 1, this year, I found the article in HawaiiNewsNow which details the December 5, 1981 plane crash which killed 12 people, among them was James "Whitey" Whiting. I've found some correspondence from him including an invitation he sent me for the 1977-78 Party in Paradise. Sorry I missed it. It's only rock and roll. stratostar 5 #2 October 3, 2024 At the party in Paradise, he would waltz through the camp, ground cabins, banging on an aluminum trashcan and screaming as loud as it could…. Ya snooze ya lose! Take the day off sports agency - party in Paradise! With his trademark leather visor.
