kallend 2,026 #1 Posted August 17, 2022 “In the year 2000 the U.S. graduated 1.9 times as many scientists and engineers at the baccalaureate level as China; but, by 2020, China was graduating 2.4 times as many as the U.S. At the doctorate level, the U.S. lead was a factor of 3.3, whereas today China leads by a factor of 1.1. If one excludes Chinese nationals who graduate from U.S. universities, that factor becomes 1.3 – and is rapidly increasing.”; Norman Augustine. According to Augustine: A Chinese high-school graduate has had nearly three more years of classroom education than an American counterpart simply due to the length of the respective school years. The standardized U.S. test called the Nation’s Report Card rates 76 percent of 12th graders below proficient in math and 78 percent below proficient in science. Increased spending on K-12 education has enlarged schools’ administrative staff 88 percent while student enrollment has grown just 8 percent. In the percentage of all baccalaureate degrees granted in engineering, the United States ranks 76th globally. Twenty-three percent of U.S. PhDs are in science, technology, engineering or mathematics; in China, 79 percent. Augustine says a “substantial” reason for U.S. proficiency in STEM subjects is immigration: 28 percent of U.S. university faculty members in science and engineering were born abroad, as were 38 percent of American Nobel laureates in chemistry, physics and medicine since 2000. “And nearly half of U.S. Fortune 500 companies had a founder who was an immigrant or the child of an immigrant,” Augustine says.

"Three out of four Chinese-Canadians were born outside Canada...The vast majority arriving in Metro Vancouver in the past decade have been from mainland China, Yu says. More than 10,000 a year are flying into the city(Vancouver) from the world’s most populous country. That rate is more than four times faster than immigrants have been coming from the combination of both Taiwan and Hong Kong,...It has led to a brain-gain for Canada, with a remarkable one out of four recent Chinese migrants holding PhDs (Translation for some non- SC regulars and Brent. That would be 25%!) (compared to six per cent of immigrants from the U.S.)....In addition, 70 per cent of immigrants to B.C. from China have the skills or wealth to apply as “economic” or “investment class” immigrants." A genuine thank you to Donald trump and the US GOP party. Someone needs to finance the retirement plans of Canadians. A Chinese immigrant with a Phd and a couple million saved. Is welcome. "Rich Chinese Worth $48 Billion Want to Leave — But Will Xi Let Them? Some 10,000 wealthy Chinese are looking to leave in the wake of punishing lockdowns and an economic slowdown. The question is whether they’ll be able to Canada has rolled out the welcome mat. But at least Billy Bob and Mary Sue from Kentucky will still be pure white and have their much needed AR-15s. riggerrob 643 #3 August 20, 2022 Yes Phil, Vancouver certainly attracts more than its fair share of immigrants from China. Punjabi (Sikh) may be the second most popular second language in Vancouver, but both Cantonese and Mandarin are close behind, meaning that the combined number of Chinese-speaking immigrants make up the dominant second-language. In some suburbs of Vancouver (e.g. Richmond) I am sometimes the token/only English-speaking, white-man in a shopping mall or restaurant. In comparison, while French may be the most popular second language in Eastern Canada, French its only spoken by 1.5 percent of Vancouverites.
Phil1111 1,149 #4 August 27, 2022 Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, the president of Hungary and a friend of trump. Has just received a new study from his political advisors. It found that educated women are dangerous to the state. If women are educated they will have less children. That they will interact less with the average knuckle-dragging male, sorry Brent. Therefor be less inclined to marry them. The study also "also warned that men who are more inclined to take risks and be entrepreneurial will not be able to fully develop their potential."...Orbán has promoted a "conservative revolution" since returning to power in 2010 and has pledged to encourage the birth rate while denigrating immigration and banning LGBTQ content for children. The report further states ""If education favours feminine traits [such as] emotional and social maturity [and] therefore causes an over-representation of women at university, [gender] equality will be significantly weakened." FOX and the GOP have been rocked by this report. Insiders reported that trump was so distraught when the report was read to him that he left a Big Mac unfinished.
