Interesting that you mention that, considering his curious 1983 JAMA comment about “..the possibility that routine close contact, as within a family household, can spread the disease.” and subsequent panic amongst a broad sector. Do you suppose his critics of that time were anti-science too? 10 hours ago, billvon said: He explicitly says that there are anti-science people out there and they BECOME anti-Fauci people because they see him on TV and he is a better (personal) target for them. He is correct there. As many of his critics were (and are) credentialed scientists themselves; Fauci's hubris alone had simply fabricated the assertion that they are anti-science. 10 hours ago, billvon said: Since that belief exists in your mind rather than in reality, wouldn't it be simpler to fix your misunderstanding? Who are you trying to kid here? We both know that if any conservative scientist had made Fauci's comments then you'd be across it like white on rice instead of the laughable 'Jedi mind trick' defence you've chosen here. It's like watching Karine Jean-Pierre trying to explain away Joe's attempted séance with Jackie Walorski.

Again, no. I will again let Fauci answer that in the interview you didn't read, but quoted: "And when I see people who scattered around misinformation and lies that can actually endanger the lives of people, but also it is very easy to pick out an individual and make them a target because that's what people can focus on." So: No, he is not talking about the legitimate scientists who disagree with him (and a great many have; that's part of being a scientist.) He is talking about the people who are spreading lies and misinformation. The people who say that there's no pandemic. The people who say the "jab" is killing millions and it's all covered up. The people who say hydroxychloroquine is a miracle cure. Those people. Pretty simple. (And yes, there may be even be credentialed scientists saying those things. They deserve to be attacked, because they are anti-science themselves. Perhaps you don't recall Andrew Wakefield, a 'credentialed scientist' who claimed that vaccines cause autism - and was well paid by a legal firm to say that. If not, take a minute to Google him, and tell me if you would consider him a legitimate scientist.) Quote the laughable 'Jedi mind trick' defence you've chosen here. I think if you used the secret 'Jedi mind trick' of reading the material you are using to make your case, your arguments would be a bit stronger. You haven’t watched or read your own source, and as a result every time you double down on attacking Fauci you just dig your own hole even deeper. So far in this thread your defence of Republican science is a claim that anti-Fauci conspiracy theorists can’t be criticised, just like your attack on a progressive ‘truth’ is an admission that you 100% agree that it’s true. How he criticised them is at issue. If you're perpetually losing your way on this thread then perhaps another progressive here can 'throw you a bone' for morale? Yeah - I really have no issue with Fauci pointing out that anti-Fauci conspiracy theorists are anti-science. They are. (You didn’t mean to say that, did you?) 7 minutes ago, metalslug said: If you're perpetually losing your way on this thread You say, while still dodging the point that you just criticised progressives for believing something that you 100% agree with and is supported by your own source. The troll here is just now using the classic schoolyard strategy of "you'll say something - ha! I'm playing you like a fiddle!" He's probably trying to deflect from the fact that he's one of the people spreading lies and disinformation, especially about the susceptibility of vaccinated people from being infected. Yes, he retracted it earlier in this thread because people happened to read the actual source article he posted (now that's an effective strategy...) but who knows who he has spread this disinformation to before that. But since we already know you were moaning about progressives believing something that you also think is true, I’d imagine we’ll eventually find you agreeing with what the echo chamber says as well.
