Buying used gear from Canada

Anyone know what I would have to pay in customs or tax if I buy used gear from Canada and have it shipped to the US?

You may.... It's a bit of a crap shoot depending on decalred value, and who is used for the shipment (and UPS and Fedex will often tag on their on "customs broker" fees... Canada Post/USPS seems less of an issue).

I just went down this road. Used the Canadian post and had no issues. Fairly quick and reasonable. Seems the major shoppers use this as a profit point. I'd avoid that risk

I've bought a couple canopies from Canada... It was not a problem.

If all the components were made in North America, the NAFTA agreement says that they are not allowed to tax it when it crosses the border.
The best way to avoid the rapacious "customs brokerage" fees charged by major courier companies is to mail packages via Canada Post and the United States Postal Service.

If the gear was manufactured in the USA, you wouldnt have to pay anything to take it back there. If made in Canada, you would likely get taxed, but I doubt it would b4e much.

Just bought a used AAD from a guy in Canada. I believe Quebec. To Kansas was $25 for 4 day shipment. Small box yes but pretty reasonable I'd say.
