camaroluvr447 0 #1 February 13, 2014 Hey folks! I am looking at buying my first rig. I'm on a budget and trying to stay under 2500. I have some questions on safe wingloading. I have an exit weight of 205. I typically have jumped 200 to 210 sq. canopies. I would prefer to buy a 190 sq canopy for my first rig for safety reasons. However I have heard that triathlons have quite soft landings. Could that justify buying a triathlon 175? My wing loading would be 1.17. Too aggressive? I wouldn't downsize instantly I would work my way there with rental gear of course. Some rules can be bent. Some can be broken. But you cant break all the rules all the time. The only generic piece of advice would be to not violate Brian Germain's downsizing chart: http://www.bigairsportz.com/pdf/bas-sizingchart.pdf For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board. This is my opinion though, and worth precisely what you paid for it.-- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, .
