wmw999 2,447 #1 Posted October 10, 2023 One wonders how far some of our more rabid conservatives would be willing to go to ensure their vision of America. In looking at the current "take no prisoners" approach in the House and in Israel, I really hope that we don't move closer to that. Especially with regards to marginalized people in the US. No, we won't get all the way there, but i winder how many people look kind of admiringly at the way that Israel handles the Palestinians, and thinks a little more of that would quiet some of our 'rabble.' Without considering that it clearly doesn't work. When you remove all hope of improvement, you often simply remove the barriers against violence and lawlessness. Wendy P. More importantly when you create the ILLUSION of no hope of improvement, you get that violence and lawlessness. Specifically you get Jan 6th. That's why managing spin is so very important for conservatives. Control the spin and you can manipulate people to do things like attacking the US Capitol. Phil1111 1,149 #3 October 10, 2023 (edited) US v Palestinian situation in the West Bank. While the USSC has been hobbled its still a little force for moderation. There is still the vote, still the free press and these can counter tribalism. While there is demonetization of minority target groups they still have a voice among the left. I say the West Bank population because they are not represented by Hamas. They are oppressed and the West needs to put more pressure on Israel when they are done with Hamas. The two state solution needs more leverage to move forward. Leverage to kick the Israeli political right in the ass.
