Divalent 145 #1 January 21, 2014 Apparently the Denver Broncos have their own skydiving demo group, the Denver Broncos Thunderstorm, that jumps at their home games. Here's video from yesterday's AFC Championship game. video by a spectator: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1re0M_yH1M video by one of the jumpers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWOON1D9LnE Looks like the last jumper hit some turbulance right about level with the top of the stadium just before turning to land. Hell, it was the last jumper that was scary as f**k. Almost had endcell collapse and what a toggle dig at the end.Every fight is a food fight if you're a cannibal Goodness is something to be chosen. BillyVance 34 #6 January 21, 2014 Obviously these guys executed their final and landings very well, but were those sharp turns really necessary? Just seems like a disaster waiting to happen with the zero margin for error they're giving themselves. But that's just my opinion. Glad they pulled it off."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
kcjen24 0 #7 January 21, 2014 I'm guessing the wires that carry the overhead cameras for the game make for extremely limited space to execute any kind of pattern without some sharp turns. ????? Those landings had a definite pucker factor for me!

Those landings had a definite pucker factor for me! The wires can be moved out of the way. Look at videos of these guys going back a couple of years, they all do the same pattern every time, except for the one who hit turbulence, LOL. That is probably because it the wind comes in the partly open end of the stadium and the POV cameras show that they do 180s across the north end, then carve in to landing and give themselves the whole field to deal with whatever might happen in a tight stadium. They seem pretty smart and totally pro at how their doing it. Grreat job, guys! Jan
DrDom 0 #9 January 25, 2014 Must get some weird microclimates going into the stadium. You guys who do demo jumps have a lot of skill and an abundance of cajones...You are not the contents of your wallet.

Jan These guys were gracious enough to let me get on loads with them after the dropzone shut down and they were only running the 206 for demo practice last summer. Not only are the wires set up prior to the jump, but the wire systems and setups vary from network to network depending on who is broadcasting the game so there are at least three configurations requiring different patterns into the stadium. They are all very nice, very professional, experienced and fun folks to be around.
matthewcline 0 #11 January 29, 2014 I have the honor of being a former team mate of one of these jumpers. The whole team is a class act and highly skilled. Demo jumps into stadiums always had my heart rate up, but damn are they fun!Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! matthewcline 0 #13 January 29, 2014 grimmie So what poor bastards will be freezing their asses off into the Super Bowl demo??? Anyone??? I dunno, but I will envy them! Cold or not, that jump will be awesome! There is very few times where you can match the feeling you get when you enter the top of the stadium and hear 75,000+ people cheer your arrival! (But, that same crowd can crush your ego when you plant a "5" ) MattAn Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
