help for skydiver's widow...

Recommended Posts

Jamie, this is Jim (aka MORK) so sad to hear of bretts passing.. that sucks!!! i will don't see any e-mails on how to get in contact with you.. I have a few contacts at other DZs that may be able to help get you in touch with a jumper that is right for bretts gear.. you can't just sell this kind of stuff to anybody that answers a Craigslist ad, or Ebay.. you want to make sure they are experienced and trained so they don't run out and tie a rope on the back of a pick up and try to use a ram air canopy as a parasail. drop me a line CRICKET202@aol.com
again.. so very sad to hear about Brett.[email]

Jamie.. Jim here (aka MORK ) so sad to hear of bretts passing.. I have replied to a few of your posts here..I don't see your e-mail I will do what I can do to track you down with Bretts last know location..hopefully I can steer you to a rigger that will be able to help you sell bretts gear.. it is OLD now..even if it was lightly used.. in skydiving a 15 year old Falcon might as well be a strato-cloud.. but I'm sure there are some jumpers looking for a first rig that would love it.. shoot me an E-mail Cricket202@aol.com and I can steer you in the right direction.. do you still have your video of your Sun-set turned NIGHT tandem? I just watched if a few weeks ago.. transfering a few hundred Mini-DV videos to DVD...

again... so sad to hear of Bretts passing.. he was young

yes Grand Lake Skydiving had a few problems at the end.. very sad.. I was present for the 2 jumpers going into the lake (2 days before Christmas) it was very sad.. I was on the load with the one that drown prior to that jump..and decided it was TOO windy for me and my Cobalt 120.. winds aloft were cooking... but they went back up to do some crw and exited 7 miles South of the DZ..and still ended up in the lake.. (ran with the wind and got in trouble) as well as mothers day 1999 had a plan crash killing 5 jumpers.. I was on EVERY load that 205 flew EXCEPT that one.. and I was on the manifest..but scratched last minute to get some food.. very glad I did!! sad to lose so man friends in 1 moment! brings life into focus..... very sad to hear that Brett Passed jamie.. give me an email and I will get you in touch with a few riggers that may help you sell his rig. thanks for your reply to this widow.. turns out I know her and jumped with her husband Brett for several years.. great guy! and while her story seems too strange for fiction.. it is true.. she did a night tandem jump... we had a 24 hour Notam and were jumping through out the night.. as the town of Celina, OH was having its annual Lake-fest we jump into the Lake and let the local coast guard practice water rescue, and we had a King air on-site.. it was a great weekend... but this tandem did get a little east of the cars headlights and had to land by the glow of the run way lights.. and the ground was not perfectly smooth and Jamie had a pretty nasty break.. but as a true professional (and i had relationship with the local 1st responders since most of them either jumped with us... or responded to injured students) so I got to ride to the hospital in the ambulance... and got some great hospital footage!! very sad to hear of bretts passing

well my Cricket came from the Chirping noise I can make that sounds like a cricket.. that was my Drop zone nick name for years.. and when America online sent free disks I was Cricket101, until those 10 hours ran out..then I was 102, 103, 105.. until I got to 202 when AOL became free... I didn't have to change and my so I was Cricket for 20 years... until I started dating Mindy.. then my nick name was changed to MORK for obvious reasons.. MORK & MINDY tv show in the 80s for you Greenies on here.

as for this skydivers widow.. I have no idea where hers came from..as I only met her at our Boogie that long weekend.

and my video production company was Cricket Productions.. "Jump to it" on the title screen of all videos I shot/edited..

she did 2 tandems the second was a night Tandem.. we had 24 hour notams

Well, first.. We do know the original post was a year ago?

And, second, I'm not sure one could have a 24 hour NOTAM for Tandems.

The DZ could have had one for skydiving operations, but I don't think night tandems were allowed.

I may have my timeline on tandems a little confused.. it was 12 years ago now and there were a lot of changes and questions going on about tandems and coach ratings at that time.

I'm not sure why everyone is wasting time trying to prove or Disprove this event happened. it did.. we jumped we did a night tandem a girl broke her ankle.. married a jumper that was a semi-regular at our drop zone.. and apparently married him after our Drop zone closed.. and he has passed away and she is now ready to sell his gear.. she is not asking for your approval or you to purchase it.. she is a 2 jump tandem jumper that was asking what in my day used to be a close-knit family instead of a bunch of whiners "this didn't happen" well guess what. it DID happen was a night tandem completely according to the SIMs.. they were not a USPA drop zone..so sometimes things happened.. I think we even jumped through a Cloud this 1 time.. but then again it is not on video.. so it probably didn't happen and since it is against the SIMs we know that doesn't happen.

the good news is this forum has brought it to my attention that one of my skydiving brothers that I have not seen in the better part of 10 years has passed away.. and his ex-wife is ready to move on and sell his old gear. it is an Falcon that was ordered by the DZO and serviced by the DZO..
yes her story is odd she is a 2 tandem jumper.. but not me, I have over 1000 jumps more than some of you less than others.. I have jumped with the Golden knights, Tim weber , jumped with the bird man Jari, & Mike McGowan under some old Para-commanders in Richmond Ind. , I've Met Lew sanborn D #1 jumped with Jerry bird In florida.. I met Ted Strong and he showed me some Awesome Remote steering parachutes he had been working on for NASA... jumped with Roger Nelson.. been in parachutist and Skydiving Magazine for jumping in 5 states in 1 day ... so don't tell me it Didn't happen... I am out of the sport since I have 2 children... and have seen enough of my friends die in this sport and have changed my priorities.. I'm glad I grew up on a small 182 DZ that did FUN things like allowed girlfriends of regulars to do a night tandem here and there... Cross country jumps, punch a cloud here and there.. and still know a few DZOs that would be more than happy to purchase some lighly used gear ..granted it is an F111 Falcon i'm sure there are some up and coming jumpers that would excited to find some affordable gear.

Jim,

I'm not disputing your skydiving history, nor that she made a night tandem even. So I apologize if that came across in my missive. My point was more along the lines; that she may not have broken her ankle if DZ had been in accordance with the regs at that time.

Anyway, its been ten years, a year since she wrote and many things have changed. Let's just move forward. Good luck with the kids and this new chapter of your life.
