kjundvr 0 #1 January 31, 2006 I have been skydiving for a year and due to me being a poor college student have only racked up 10 jumps. I have completed all levels of AFF and am working on my A licenes. So here is my question. I have not jumped since summer due to an injury I had after a not-so-graceful landing is there a time after which I have to go through AFF again or will I be able to take a refresher and still be able to jump. thanks
daniel_owen_uk 0 #2 January 31, 2006 I would think you should be able to just do a refresh, and maybe a coached jump. But don't take my word for it I know nothing, give the dz a call and ask, can't hurt.__________________ BOOM Headshot

With only 10 jumps and a long lay off a 'refresher' course will probably be much the same content as a FJC but wont take as long as you'll hopefully remember a lot of it! At least one jump with an AFFI, maybe more depending on performance. Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!
Samurai136 0 #4 January 31, 2006 2006 SIM Section 5-2 A.1. and 4. Quote1. All students who have not jumped in 30 days or more should receive refresher training: a. Review all standard procedures which were—or should have been—previously acquired. (1) physical skills (2) theoretical knowledge b. Practice emergency procedures in a harness simulator under the guidance of a rated USPA Coach, Instructor, or Instructor Examiner. c. A student should repeat reserve deployment training once each month until obtaining a USPA A License, including the use of a harness simulator and the pull of an actual reserve ripcord while in the training harness. 4. AFF students cleared to self-supervise in freefall but who have not jumped in the preceding 30 days should make at least one jump and demonstrate the ability to start and stop turns, maintain altitude awareness, and the ability to maintain stability during deployment, with a currently rated AFF Instructor. You should show up to a USPA DZ prepared to perform points one and four. Depending on the DZ, Instructor and how prepared you are there may not be a fee beyond the one jump. Icon134 0 #5 February 1, 2006 I was out for a little over a month when I had 12 jumps and when I returned I went up with a AFFI for nothing more then his slot... but you can't do that everytime... and I was still mentally in the game the entire time... FWIW we just went up and did a 2-way and turned some points... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
