Biden-Trump Debate

Been busy ignoring the law, doing Carolina Fest and recovering since my last visit here. Getting too old to make 6 jumps a day and party.  All interesting and agreeable comments.

It's easy to look at a limited group of facts for any of those mentioned and create a positive or negative picture. As an example, about all I recall on HRC are Benghazi, the server in the house, the destroyed emails and the Steele document. Noting that there was no prosecution is a distracting topic. I'm certain she did some good work I just have no recall of it.

Jerry said, "the choice is very easy."  It seems that's the case for many people. Some like Biden and some like Trump. Those that like Biden say, "I don't see how anyone could vote him, he's a womanizer and a convicted felon." Those that like Trump say, "I don't see how anyone could vote for him, he's senile, wrecked the economy and opened the border."

The candidates are fighting for those that are left over. According to the media that's the black vote, the younger crowd and some others.

I've noticed in my social groups that no one is talking politics unless they know the person they are speaking with has the same opinions. Nine at lunch today, 7 men, 2 women, 48 - 73 years old. Talked about all kinds of things but not politics. The biggest laugh was the 50-year old birthday girl that said, "some sexual harassment would be appreciated about now."

It's too divisive.

Hi Bill,

In 1964, I joined the Portland Fire Bureau.  There were no female firefighters then.  In the fire house, we could not talk about politics, religion or women.

While we have 'some' Trump supporters here in Oregon; I estimate them at about 25% of the voting public.

IMO it was the GOP that made politics too divisive.

PS)  Good post; should get people thinking.

PPS)  You got a phone number for the woman who said, "some sexual harassment would be appreciated about now."

lol - this group has known and worked with each other - some for 30+ years. Of the nine, 5 are retired. There were always female employees and plenty of joking around back when smoking and drinking in the office was OK. Then the no-fun police, social promotions and DEI-like stuff started up. Recently there was a "preferential hire" that quit when her new boss was chosen. She stated, "I'm not working for her, she's not qualified." Uh .... how about look in the mirror, you were the ultimate minority hire, been there 7 years and still won't do the job. It's all about perspective.

As for the chica, out of the office she's a hoot. She'll pile it on along with everyone. She has a 17-year old daughter that's quite cute. She used to occasionally come to the office so we know Abby as a sub 10-year old. Today one of the guys asked about Abby, mom says, "OMG it's terrible, I know how I was at that age, and she's eaten plenty of McDonalds hamburgers." The McD's comment was a reference to the hormones in fast food burgers and the "believed" affect on girls.

As for politics, SC is a mostly red state. This group is, guessing, 70% red. One person is quite vocal and blue. He'll dominant a conversation about politics. Not fun.

Exactly how much time each day do you spend thinking about me? Don’t get me wrong, I’m flattered, I just never realised I was that interesting.

Right.

Any proof of that senility? Other than speech patterns COMPLETELY CONSISTENT with a stutter?

Wrecked the economy?

Seriously? Inflation is under control.
Job creation is at levels NEVER seen before.
Unemployment is at levels for lengths of time not seen in SEVENTY YEARS.

And what 'open border'?
Please provide evidence.

You know, like numbers of deportations. Which are higher than when Trump was in office.
The numbers of people attempting to cross is up some, but the ones detained keep saying that they are being told that the border is open and they can come right in.
Who keeps repeating that?
And Biden got a "Border Bill" put together. Which was a hell of an accomplishment. It had just about everything the Rs wanted.
But Trumpty Dumpty decided he wanted the crisis to continue so that he had something to cry and lie about.
So he had his little bitch Johnson kill it.

Those that like Trump are STUPID ENOUGH TO BELIEVE HIS BULLSHIT.

Period.

And the S&P500 set a record yesterday.

It's just horrible!

The right wing media repeats all these things over and over. It works, after hearing the news source enough times all the bullshit just becomes fact in the minds of the listeners. It's just the same as cheering for your local sports team. There is no good reason to believe they are better people, but it doesn't matter you support your team.

Yep.  He actually tried to close the border via legislation, but republicans shot that down because they wanted a border disaster to get people like Bill E riled up.  He then closed the border via executive order yesterday.  How odd that FOX News isn't reporting that.

There is so much in your post that really just speaks to the bias of the MSM that you consume.

The one point I'd push on is the quote above - you should ask yourself why you think that is, given that the GOP would fall over themselves to prosecute if they had a single decent iota of proof, or evidence of wrongdoing

Unless you are comfortable with the general attitudes in red South Carolina and are happy to take a Trump presidency if it means not making social waves then you really aren't helping. The absolute easiest, and most useless, tack anyone can take in a dialogue or conversation is to be totally opinion neutral, avoid being honest or, in it's absolute worst variation opine that some people are saying as some kind of evidence.

Here's an opinion: I see no real evidence of senility in Biden, the economy is doing great considering the rising inflationary environment he inherited which takes time to fix, and Trump, supported by his complicit republican cultists, killed a border deal crafted in the Senate to hurt the nation and benefit his campaign or that would be on the mend now.

And on the other side of the equation, Trump's constant confusion over who the current president is indicates he's declining rather rapidly.  Consider this from a recent speech he gave:

"We’re going to place strong protections to stop banks and regulators from trying to debank you . . . from your . . . your political beliefs what they do. They want to debank you. We’re going to debank all . . .  think of this. They want to take away your country.  Electric cars."

And in his most recent video he is literally foaming at the mouth - and appears unaware of it.

While I haven't watched the actual 'interview', there are lots of reports that Fox edited the living shit out of what he said.

The 2 basic assumptions are that he's going completely off the rails and saying all sorts of things that he shouldn't or that he's become so incoherent that nobody at all (in their right mind or not) would support him.

And in more recent news, the RNC announced the upcoming GOP convention with a picture showing . . . a city in Vietnam.

What message are they trying to send here?  Or did they do something stupid like letting Trump touch a computer, or letting one of Trump's toadies run things?

Honestly watching the debate the US has two truly awful choices.

Biden looks and sounds terrible, I feel incredibly sorry for him.

Trump is simply a liar and has so far had no policy or substance.

Hi Nigel,

I think Jill needs to have a serious sit-down & discussion tonite.

He has already stated a policy. Revenge and a dictatorship. It seems as if there could be a old man as president who has to rely upon his wife and advisors to make good decisions.

Or there could be an emboldened trump lying more, starting fights and battles everywhere. Using his authority to strike at anyone he sees as disloyal. With no regard for morals or the law. He will be surrounded by a dozen Stephen Millers with everyone on steroids.

In other political news, Oklahoma has announced that the bible and ten commandments are to be deeply integrated into all school curriculums.

Hi Jerry,

I agree. David Pakman just did his analysis and basically summed up saying people need to remember they are voting for the administration and not the man, when they are voting for Biden.

I think the honourable thing for Biden to do would be to throw his support behind someone else and give them his blessing. If he doesn’t I suspect my prediction from a few months ago holds true and Trump will win.
