Namowal 0 #1 October 30, 2012 Back when I started the sport, an older jumper mentioned to me that he found it annoying that a lot of the younger jumpers didn't recognize (or hadn't heard of) distinguished jumpers from the past and even the present. In your opinion, is there a list of skydivers you think all of us should be familiar with? Who are they? (Aside from yourself, of course ...My blog with the skydiving duck cartoons. wolfriverjoe 1,523 #7 October 30, 2012 There's a couple lists. - Historical: Sanborn, Istel, Ottley, Morehead, White. There are others, but those are the first that come to mind. - Pioneers, but a little more recent: Bill Booth, Ted Strong, Dan Poynter. Again, there are others. - Champions: Dan BC, Kirk Verner, Rook and Missy Nelson, Eli Thompson. Again, many many others. Camera: Norman Kent, Joe Jennings, Greg Gasson, Brian Buckland. Again, many others. One good reason to know who the "names" are is because a few of them post on here. And sometimes people don't quite realize who they are. It can get a "bit" amusing. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3409804#3409804 And don't forget the most famous of all skydivers... DB Cooper Who else has a thread of over 1000 pages (pages, not posts). "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." It would include the Madd Skilz crowd like you listed, but it could also include those who pushed the limits just a bit too far.
