Who will replace Biden?

Also, just to make better your day, Footnote 15 in the immunity decision affirms DOJ policy that a sitting President cannot be prosecuted. That guarantees he won't leave office. This is serious and Biden must use his immunity powers to neuter Trump. Past that then only real hope is Merchan showing up with a MAGA hat and a shit eating grin screaming 4 More Years!

Why doesn’t Biden use this ruling to send Seal Team Six to take out Trump as a clear and present threat to the United States?  That scenario, with Trump as President, is all that MSNBC has been yammering on about all day.

Got me. If it was me, I'd use these powers to prove the obvious which is that Trump is a traitor. I'd empty every drawer, safe, and pants pocket in every property he has and have his ass in a steel chair with a bright light shining. He was in possession of national secrets and there is solid evidence he shared information and inferential evidence he collaborated with the Russians. That's plenty for Biden in his official capacity to protect national security by hauling Trumps ass in for serious questioning and holding him to prevent further damage. And now there isn't jack Trump or anyone else could do to stop it.

Biden could order the DOJ to issue a statement disqualifying Trump from office, referencing Jan 6 alone and the fake electors scheme, ignore the curren indictments and simply act as the 'president'.  Then order the Federal Elections Commission to disqualify him, stating it as an official act to protect the country.  and then have the DOJ start new investigations into his ties with foreign countries his corruption and so on.

But of course, they have no balls and will not do this.  But this is exactly what and how Trump would do it

Hi folks,

The phone number for the White House is:  202-456-1111

You can only reach them 11 AM - 3 PM east coast time, Tue thru Thurs.

I just left them a message.  You can, too.

Jerry Baumchen

Time for a new plan: Biden announces he will not accept the nomination and spends the next 4 months carefree cleaning up the mess with Executive Orders stacking the courts jailing Trump, etc. etc. etc.

Bribing officials is now legal, don't you know. Give him a big, new, coal mine for his vote or in the interest of national security defer all of his taxes. Now it isn't about process it's all about imagination.

Hi folks,

Would you not like to be a fly on the wall for this one:  President Biden is set to hold meetings with Democratic congressional leaders and governors on Wednesday amid widespread concerns over his debate performance.

Let's hope they tell it like it is.

Ya know, if he does go ahead and be liberal with the interpretation of ruling, he will either:

be prosecuted and therefore set a precedent that they'll have to follow when Trump does worse

not be prosecuted, and either make a ton of money, or make it clear to everyone that the president is now king

But he may also get away with packing the Supreme Court, the 5th District, and any other court that needs it. He can sick the FBI on Trump, and why not that's been the years long accusation let's make it true, and on and on. As long as he isn't being nominated he's free to run. With Merchan now neutered I fail to see what else might work, with a degree of comfort, to keep Trump from being elected. That is such a worse case scenario post immunity decision that it's time for desperate measures.

100% That is how we got Trump in the first place. The DNC cleared the deck and anointed HRC, the most unpopular and polarizing politician in recent history and the only person on the planet who could lose to Trump.

And yet the US would be in such better shape had she been elected.

And she won the popular vote by 2,868,686 votes, which would have meant winning in any country with a rational voting system.

Out of curiosity what message are you folks leaving? What are you suggesting Biden do?

The suggestion has been to drop out.  Which he won't do.  So democratic turnout will be suppressed (because they don't want to vote for a 'brain dead' guy, and republicans will capitalize on all the democrats who oppose him) and Trump will win.

Hi Joe,

I sent an extensive message about how I supported him in 2020 & so far in 2024.  I also mentioned how Joe went to his mother & asked what to do when Obama asked him to be on the ticket.  His mom said, 'Joey, do what's best for the country.'

I told that is what he should do now.

Anything else?

Jerry Baumchen

PS)  Last Friday, when I could not figure out how to contact the While House, I sent messages to Newson, Merkley, Wyden, Harris; and, maybe one or two others that I cannot remember at this time.

Hi Bill,

And, if Trump gets the Senate, you kiss it all goodby.

That's the problem. I get the angst but there needs to be a bit more nuance in the thinking, I think. I asked because I was certain there wouldn't be much more than "resign now please for the good of the country" because that's all you get for time with those things. I see the problem as more difficult and very much requiring more flexibility than a single solution offers. But how do you tell the switchboard operator that the President needs to put a very unusual action plan into play that won't include his having a second term?

Jerry, I don't think you achieved anything more than being a check mark in one of three columns on a very low level staffers computer. Maybe I'm dead wrong and overly deluded. I hope so.

Hi Joe,

That could be true.  The other option was to sit still & wring my hands.

No thanks.

Jerry,

Again, we are, as ever, on the same team. Monday morning changed things: the horror of another Trump Presidency was magnified many times over. That means that unknown solutions with unknown effects need a lot more examination. Had the USSC denied the expansive immunity Trump asked for much less given him much more than he wanted we might easily be happy with last weeks positions. Now we cannot. Biden bowing out is not necessarily the best solution now. Attributed, possibly falsely, to John Maynard Keynes: when the facts change, I change my mind...." That's what I was gifted with the obscene USSC decision. So I changed my mind.
