winsor 236 #276 November 3, 2024 I despise both candidates for different reasons, but suspect Harris will win because Trump is so personally loathsome. Putting her charge of an economy on the brink ($35 Trillion some-odd and counting?) is likely the kiss of death, and she's sure to fuck things up as we swirl the drain. I doubt if four years is enough to detox from Trump, but it's a start. Why we are cool with going the way of Zimbabwe and Venezuela escapes me, but too many people simply can't run the numbers. Trump isn't a CPA, but Harris has to take off her shoes to count over 10. Trump is a perfectly dreadful human being by any measure, but Harris is the candidate I'd choose if my goal was to destroy the country - with the best of intentions, of course. Whoever wins, we're screwed. BSBD, Winsor

It's simply denigrating to make such a statement. Certainly there isn't enough there to say it's also racist or misogynistic but I would think his estimable smarts would make obvious the implication. Maybe it was a simple bad attempt at making a funny and we have him all wrong.

Denigration was the point. No conservative can hope to win by lauding Trump's strengths, so denigration of the other candidate is pretty much the only option. "Hitler is a perfectly dreadful human being by any measure, but von Hindenberg is the candidate I'd choose if my goal was to destroy the country." Works just as well today. After all, von Hindenberg was a communist and a Marxist according to his enemies. And a zeppelin named after him crashed. No one wants THAT!

So in today's Christo/Republican vernacular it's at least directionally accurate and a more than sufficient possible certainty to organize not only your life around the idea but also the lives of anyone within grabbing distance. AMARANTH! Odd to see religion simply celebrates death. Every flavor of religion seems to do this. And make believe characters in stories thousands of years old are "coming"?
