Harris or Trump in November

One thing this campaign has highlighted is how Americans had lost their joy and ‘American dream’. It’s a pretty deep rooted national trait and I can see it resonating.

Granted having a British background I think it’s a mildly annoying trait, stiff upper lip and not tooting your own horn is a bit more comfortable.

Hi Nigel,

Plus, it would seem as though Trump is very afraid of having anything to do with a strong female:  Watch: Trump Campaign Desperate to Avoid Kamala Debate Questions (msn.com)

Trump is apparently very worried about Tim Waltz.  From a recent email, he claims Harris is bad but Waltz is worse.  "HE’S THAT BAD. He’ll unleash HELL ON EARTH and open our borders to the worst criminals imaginable."

Hell on Earth!  Well that sounds scary.

Sounds like Trump.

Hi folks,

Short of a major gaffe, I see the Harris-Walz ticket winning by a bigger margin than Biden did in 2020.

And, IMO it is because so many of the GOP are sick & tired of the clown and his antics -> complete negativity on everything:  you have to beat them in the general because we can’t beat them in the primary.

They are doing an incredible job and have a good message. Fox News has her rally on their website live, but not Donald that I could see.

She’s started talking crowd sizes, but in a totally different tone to Donald - and that has to be designed to drive Donald nuts. She called out and thanked some republicans. They are separating Donald and Vance, and directly calling them out, but not bringing in MAGA or deplorables into the target.

Donald and MAGA are beyond saving and will band together, but they are opening space for true republicans to find some backbone and splinter off. Not only is Harris campaign being respectful, but it’s also strategic as it splinters the opposition and creates division. Even the likes of Joe Rogan are starting distance themselves - admittedly leaning towards Kennedy.

Republicans banding together to vote for Harris:

The article talks about republicans who "haven’t necessarily left the GOP, but dozens of them are backing Democratic candidates Vice President Kamala Harris and Congressman Ruben Gallego in the November election" per Gallego supporters.

Hi folks,

Gee, do you think it might:  Trump’s lawyers argued that sentencing the former president in September could amount to election interference.

It seems blindingly obvious that deliberately not sentencing him for political reasons when he's ready to be sentenced would, in fact, be election interference.

Justice delayed is justice denied.  He should be in prison already.  Anyone else who did what he did would be.

For the New York felonies and a first time offender it is usually community service or probation I believe.

Now if Merchaun has a sense of humour he would sentence Trump to N number of hours community service working with wounded veterans or some other altruistic cause that deliberately offends Trumps sensibilities.

It would be fun to see the GOP and Trump screaming bloody murder that a 34 hour (an hour per felony) community service is an outrage, while exposing their hypocrisy. Trump refusing to work in a soup kitchen against a backdrop of “I can’t buy bacon” in his rallies.

Hi Nigel,

I don't know about you; but, I would love to see Trump in an orange jumpsuit sweeping the streets of New York with a broom.

Think the orange jumpsuit might clash with his hair?  Oh, the horror.

Republicans and democrats can nominate people by any process they want.  The nomination process is not democratic; you don't get to vote for any candidate you want.  Parties decide that.

If you just now decided that this is NOT DEMOCRATIC!!!!!@@!@!!  but all previous nominations were, you're being a bit of a drama queen.

Exactly! The humiliation of community service would be far worse than jail for Trump, because let’s be real he isn’t going to be in Cell Block C sharing a cell with someone.

They can creative, if they’re worried about security issues get him emptying the waste paper bins in the White House and picking up litter - in an orange jumpsuit (I realise it’s not in NY state)

I might be taking a risk speaking for all lefties here but I'm pretty sure we all think the electoral college is an anti- democratic abomination that has only served to keep an undemocratically minority in power. In other words it's a damn outrage.

Just like the same mechanism that put Biden in the White House and lead to Harris as the D’s Nominee

Let’s be honest, if the exodus from blue states continues, and the popular vote turns red, you would be fine with that?

Not me, I want Merchan to rule that based on Trumps statements and conspiracy claims he's not certain he can understand the seriousness of charges against him. Then postpone sentencing for a week pending a complete psychiatric examination at the Central New York Psychiatric Center. And then have him hauled off then and there for the exam.

Yes. If that were the future here I'd accept it on honest principal and make whatever plans needed to safeguard my freedoms. Which aren't many because the freedoms I am concerned with aren't my freedoms; they are the freedoms of my fellow citizens. So in that regard we are quite different people.

You can’t generalise, it’s an abstract concept that is difficult to grasp for some people.
