anothergreek10 0 #1 November 26, 2009 Hi All, I'm going to try and make this as simple as possible. Knowing how helpful most of us are I reach out to my fellow skydivers today to help me with a quick statistics project. I'm going to be testing whether the approximation that we have 1 cutaway per 1000 jumps is somewhat accurate by taking a random sample. I would only need you to respond to these 3 simple questions. 1. How many jumps do you have? 2. How many cutaways? 3. What kind of malfunction? (Total or Partial) **Optional** Thank you all in advance for your support.
kawisixer01 0 #2 November 26, 2009 1. 125 2. 1 3. Line twist I couldn't get out of. I'm not proud of having one already, but am glad to have gotten my "first" out of the way. It was most likely my own damn fault, probably my body position at depoloyment. Overall everything worked out ok. I found everything right away, and even though I was a bit shaken it was kinda exciting. Something I'd rather not repeat anytime soon. As my instructor stated one time "emjoy your malfunction!" jimmytavino 16 #12 November 26, 2009 3,176 jumps Six reserve rides, but only 2 cutaways.. once on "shot & a halves", once on 3 rings... Crisscrossed suspension lines on a H P Round,,, french papillon, for the shot and a halves ( moved a packed canopy, in its P.O.D., into my container,, without re packing it,,,crossed something up, as i hooked up the risers.. approx 1975...) tied up steering lines/ tension knots on the second cutaway Para Plane Cloud, in a wonderhog. For the other 4 reserve rides, 2 were from totals, ( inability to reach the PC handle ) One was a P C I T/ horseshoe and one was a " straight to reserve" deployment after having right shoulder disclocated on an exit... I always felt that 0ne in one thousand... is just about right...For cutaways!!! enter in, other problems, malfunctions and possibilities,, the ratio of jumps to reserve rides,,, may drop to 1 in 500 or maybe even 1 in 300. jmy
