JerryBaumchen 1,445 #1 Posted July 31, 2024 (edited) Hi folks, For some reason, Trump appeared at the National Association of Black Journalists Convention to woo them to his side. What a total failure. Donald Trump's appearance . . . was met with fierce backlash on social media, after the former president ranted off-topic insulting the Black journalists who interviewed him, the MAGA hopeful also claimed not to know the race of his opponent The idiot thinks that people actually like him, his rallies notwithstanding. Talk about doing something stupid. Trump thought Harris "was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden, she made a turn and she went, she became a Black person." Up next - Trump is baffled when Pete Buttigieg starts out a white man then - BAM! - suddenly he made a turn and became gay!

ryoder 1,590 #6 August 1, 2024 (edited) “She was always of Indian heritage. And she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black. And now she wants to be known as Black,” Trump said. My idea for a Harris campaign ad: “He was always of White heritage. And he was only promoting White heritage. I didn’t know he was Orange until a number of years ago when he happened to turn Orange. And now he wants to be known as Orange,” Harris said. Edited August 1, 2024 by ryoder

Jerry Baumchen I watched his entire diatribe. What’s great is that wasn’t any event. It was journalists - maybe Donald doesn’t understand what a journalist is? Because it’s going to get great coverage Edited August 1, 2024 by nigel99
Phil1111 1,149 #8 August 1, 2024 The reporting in that story are different from this NYT report: "Mr. Trump’s remarks prompted gasps and jeers from the audience at the National Association of Black Journalists in Chicago. The former president’s combative appearance there was one of the most unusual of the campaign so far as he sparred with reporters over diversity efforts, repeated falsehoods about a range of subjects and told the group that he was “the best president for the Black population” since Abraham Lincoln."..." he called for “investigations” into the former president’s true birthplace and suggested Mr. Obama’s birth certificate was a lie.... “I came onto a stage like this and I got treated so rudely,” he complained at one point. Reporters in the room repeatedly scoffed as Mr. Trump made disparaging remarks

Washington Week - Wikipedia Trump's stupidity is always a given. I'm familiar with Washington Week. The very idea that he would sit down with a class of Black reporters then deny Kamala's heritage is the height of chutzpah. After all she has been VP for 3 & 1/2 years. I assume he is merely writing off educated Black voters and looking for the MAGA Black voter. Someone who only listens to the right wing media space. That playbook worked in his first election and failed in his second. But like an old blind horse looking for a drink. He goes back to a well thats been dry for years, hoping it holds water now. Now that Jerry has singlehandedly removed Biden and is quite respectfully allowing time to pass before supporting Harris after, well never mind, I just can not look forward to his crowing when Harris slams dunks the bastard. I just cannot wait.

Washington Week - Wikipedia He’s ultimately a spoiled 3 year old who has never been told no. Her opening statement was brutal and to the point. A strong person would give a robust rebuttal, but he whined like a baby about how nasty she was. He didn’t even go on the attack and engage in the same level as her. Of course to attack with substance you have to have a spine and facts. A skill that politicians need is to be able to be equivocal. When Tony Blair was Prime Minister the BBC did a segment on his ability to be equivocal - he’s honestly the best I’ve seen, where both sides felt he was agreeing with them. He was able to say nothing with total conviction :) Donald, tried but failed dismally.

billvon 3,078 #23 August 2, 2024 Trump has found a way out of this mess with black voters - by blaming the black journalists there. It was their fault. "Biased and rude treatment from certain hostile members of the media . . . their fake outrage.”

To be blunt you have a lot of skin in the game, owing to your gene legacy, and you are hoping that we who have less or none will pick up the slack. I did my weekly $250 just now. I also just now fired off an email to a grand niece asking if it was cool if I shorted this years $15K college fund contribution to support Harris. Maybe that will make reality a present thing.
