Perhaps its time to turn the tables on trump and his gas of fascist buddies. For the last three democrat US governments republicans have used the courts to tie up democrat agendas. Its time for democrats to put the courts on the brakes of republican actions.

So you think I am responsible for those who didn't attend college?  Critical thinking is not part of your skill set, it seems.

Not at all.  But in my book you don't get a free pass either.  So why do you think they didn't attend?

You wrote the book, tell us why.

Why do I think these kids didn't go to college?  #1 reason is cost.  Of course you can always just borrow the money.

John lives a very good life and I don't begrudge him.  But he was also part of the machine that created the very problem he uses to take shots.

The system of realtors raises the cost of Real Estate. You are a very real part of that machine, are you an important cause of the high cost of real estate?

Absolutely!  I said 10 years ago that Realtors will go the way of travel agents.  However, no one is claiming Trump's victory was due to Realtors voting.

Sorry, I assumed you voted. You say John lives a good life, I disagree. He drives a little old car without a roof and plays with toy airplanes, and wears a Christopher Columbus hat. Frankly, I find that sad. But he did used to be someone and deserved a fat payday for all of the work he put in to do what he did. The question is: who should pay for it all, individuals or society? Would you be cool with a national program that covered tuition at community college for an AA and then a state college for the rest of the ride?

I'm in favor of anything that makes it easier.

The real problem, and John does get a pass on this (I can't quite see him teaching 3rd graders about exit separation) is early education.  Long before higher education is a choice.

Without DoE, education in America is about to get interesting.

I've already seen some Floriduh friends leave the state due to the current education environment there.

IMO everyone who can benefit from higher ed. should get it and shouldn't depend on how wealthy your parents are.  In the long run having a better educated population benefits all of society, and, in general, the better educated end up paying higher taxes so real feedback exists.  (Clearly there are exceptions, such as real estate developers who defraud the government by fiddling the books.  With luck the legal system will catch up with  them in the end.)

Exit poll demographics show very clearly the benefit of a college education to decision making at the polling booth.

I agree that education is beneficial, but College doesn't always do a particularly good job of it.  I have encountered all too many people with apparently impressive degrees whose grasp of the fundamentals was abysmal.

At least the schooling was expensive.

Good advice for everyone. The dice are cast and all the worrying about future generations, or any oppressed group in this generation, is a waste of time and energy. The only useful thing to do is work to secure additional resources to help protect your kids and grandkids (if you have them) to give them the options and safety only money can buy. Otherwise get used to a lot more discrimination, a lot more Jesus, and a lot less giving a crap. It might be a also good time to invest in blue state trailer parks for when the light bulb comes on for the winners.

I have said a number of times that I won't waste emotional energy on things I can't control.

I think this is pretty representative of what actually happens.

When they aren't sure if they are going to win, they hide their true selves. They stand for nothing. But then when they feel they have group support they let their true selves come out. It is what weak bullies do, what weak men do.

Just so you know, there are people here who count you in that group for some fundamentals.

I'm sure they do.

I'll take your word for it as they're likely in my kill file or on my ignore list.

Hi John,

Re:  IMO everyone who can benefit from higher ed. should get it and shouldn't depend on how wealthy your parents are.

I totally agree.  I went to college 1/2 time & worked to pay the costs.  It took me 6 1/2 yrs to get my degree.  Often, I would wonder if I would ever make it.  But, I stayed with the effort.  And, it has given me a far better life than if I had not done it.

It can be done without family money; it is not easy & can take a long time.  In the end, it is IMO very much worth it.

I don’t like Trump, but he was much better than the alternative and I voted for him for the first time. It was the first time in four election cycles I was on the winning side, so yeah I’m a bit pumped, especially after Casey went down.

No, Brent, that's not going to happen. It might be that the government will protect bigots instead of the weaker, but that's what happened during the whole Jim Crow era as well.

Acknowledging something respects it, it doesn't bring it into existence.

And anyway, it's now up to the states, where it belongs, like everything else having to do with human rights, right?

So you are in the “men can have babies” camp? Bless your heart.

NPR was doing a postmortem and one of the Democrat consultants said that one of the reasons the Ds lost the working class was their focus on being woke. The NPR host got triggered and pushed back vociferously on the notion that “woke” could possibly be pejorative and the guest agreed to change it to “focus on identity politics”. It turns out that going woke not only makes you broke it costs you the White House and Senate as well.

You can't even define woke. Yet you are so sure it is a problem.

Yes, you must be so excited at having played your part in making history. The very first convicted criminal, known rapist and leaker of nuclear secrets to foreign nationals to be elected President. You'll be taught about in schools for decades to come.

How much have you actually heard the Dems talk about woke, though? Not the right wing media screaming that everything is woke, but actual Dems saying woke things?

As SkyDekker points out though, who knows what you or anyone else s talking about when you say 'woke' anyway. Last year the BBC revamped the cast of a long running quiz show to try and appeal to a younger audience, and one of the changes was to replace the female host with a middle aged, working class white man.... and the right wing media whined that they were going woke. Go figure.

You've just spent 6 months telling us it was the (supposed) state of the economy that would do that. Were you bullshitting then or are you bullshitting now?
