nicron 0 #1 June 19, 2013 The Y-Mod Advanced Tandem Harness, required by UPT January of 2014, is the most advanced, simple, secure harness to date. The newest thing since Skyhook. Forget the old complicated methods of harnessing a student. Fool proof and safe, the Y-MOd Advanced. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaOKnQybvsE

pchapman 279 #4 June 19, 2013 I didn't check it out completely, but it is a video that seems to be intended to be humorous. I just like descriptions of things before clicking through to a video. Like the old idea that straightjacketing students might make them safer, in this case, the suggestion by the authors of the video is to enclose the student (shown only on the ground) in a large sack, with only their head sticking out. This would be the Y-Mod Advanced, much easier for the student to don than some complicated harness with all sorts of straps.

Agreed! - They can't grab the door frame. - They can't grab your hands. - They can't stick their feet out on landing to break legs. JohnMitchell 16 #13 June 20, 2013 DougH Where can I get one!!! Can I use it on a strong? Nope, that would violate the TSO. But I hear they're working on something called the Strong Sac.
pchapman 279 #14 June 20, 2013 The Racer version uses a dozens of rubber bands to close the sack, but otherwise is similar.

riggerrob 643 #17 June 22, 2013 Dang! My secret is out! Back in the good-old-days, we used to stuff students in sacks as the Beech 18 was warming up. We'd shake them around and tumble them out on the grass. "What was the best part of your skydive?" They went home with the smell of hot oil clinging to their hair ... arms ... arm pits ... legs ... insoles ... Hah! Hah!
