The Clown Show aka trump's Cabinet

Remember when the best thing about Trump was that his government wouldn't be beholden to rich campaign donors?

Now the best thing about Trump is that his government will be run by rich campaign donors!

It really all makes sense if you just look at it sideways and squint a bit. Not like a cult at all.

Trump is the ultimate grifter, he took people’s anger at the system and manipulated them.

I’ll be honest, I am no longer certain MAGA is a cult, although it’s still high my the list as a possibility.

People feel powerless against politicians who have become a law to themselves and there is a vacuum of alternatives. I’ve recently been following Tony Blair and quite like his perspective on how politics is broken and what he learned as PM.

There’s a level of insanity in supporting a dictator wannabe and bunch of crooks as an alternative though.

Australia is racing to catch up to the US. For the first time I have decided to take an active role in opposing the mainstream parties. We have a small party run by a GP. He’s very logical and challenges decisions constantly. I’ve begun talking to the head of the party as he’s very approachable.

Democracy is very nice, if currently impracticable. In the meantime reviewing the necessities for surviving famously in a feudal system seems appropriate.

It's cult-like when there's nothing the leader can do that's wrong. The republicans ut huge amounts of effort into stirring up anger over supposed pay-to-play at the Clinton Foundation (with zero direct evidence of anything actually happening), and ultimately were successful in driving large numbers of voters to Trump. His promise to be completely above the dirty world of campaign finance was a huge part of his first win.

Now Elon Musk has, loudly and openly, paid his way into Trump's inner circle and been rewarded with a position that will give him huge influence over government spending on his and his competitor's companies and the supporters say it's exactly what they always wanted Trump to do.

Is that you still crying about how unfair your ban was, or the face you made because you just realised how badly you've been had? If the latter, glad I could help!

Definitely cult like. Also the US is now well and truly established as a corrupt nation.

It’s going to be interesting to see the EU response over time as they generally have quite high standards on dealing with corruption.

Hi folks,

Looks like so long to veteran's benefits:  push for cutting veterans’ health benefits

Hegseth and Collins’ push for cutting veterans’ health benefits alarms service members and veterans groups | CNN Politics

How long will those veterans still be glad that they voted for Trump?

The guy who thinks they are "suckers" and "losers?"

They are getting exactly what they voted for.

Maybe Jay and Ron would like to chime in here and set us straight. Hey, I know, let's put them on Medicare and SSDI instead and get rid of an agency in the bargain. Surely Brent and BIGUN would agree to that leveling of the playing field and deep administrative state cut.

Hold on. It helps to actually read the article past the headline and not embrace the noise. Beginning around 2016, there was a shift from the backlog of trying to keep everything in-house at the VA. That's what was caused veterans to die. Congress opened the purse and gave the VA a directive to do "Care in the Community" to alleviate some of the issues.

Your VA PCP recommends a specialst, the PCP sends it over to CinC, they coordinate with a local specialist, it gets done. It went well, kind of a FEMA model of approving funds for others to take care of the problem. After losing so many VA Doctors to higher pay in the community, the question became, why does the VA have its own healthcare system - why not "just" use CinC.

There's an evaluation going on of cutting the budget and just doing CinC. No reason to be duplicitous. Fact is - this would be an even better model for the consideration of Universal Healthcare.

Hi Keith,

Re:   this would be an even better model for the consideration of Universal Healthcare.

As I support Universal Healthcare, you cannot surely believe that this is on Trump's radar; or do you?

You hold on there, sonny! "Your VA PCP recommends a special(i)st, the PCP sends it over to CinC, they coordinate with a local specialist, it gets done."  That's what happens on the crappy regular insurance plans that's gets some folks all pistol pissed off at CEO's. I'm on Medicare and it's the best insurance I can recall having and I have always bought the best. You bypass your PCP and don't wait for approvals. X-rays, CT scans, MRI's, Open Heart Surgery, a new shoulder and on and on. Do your research and go to whichever surgeon in the US you prefer, getting 2 or even 3 opinions on the way. Never once has my top choice not accepted Part B and my supplement and I've never been denied or delayed.

Now yes, I made a snarky comment to make a point or two but I'm thinking you don't get single payer health insurance.

But you'd never know this if you watched the ads for Medicare Advantage plans.

Medicare and the VA system are both examples of single-payer health coverage. They're both funded by the federal government. Single Payer and Universal Healthcare can be somewhat conflated. The single payer means there's just a single entity paying for medical care for some. Universal Healthcare - means that ALL Americans have coverage, whether through public or private systems, or both. So, before you get too snarky, the goal is NOT single payer for some, but universal care for all.

I'm thinking you don't get Universal Healthcare. Or. is that not your goal.
