Good point! And this site just fosters leftist assholes.

Calling dz.com users assholes really isn't OK, unless it's preceded by "hey," and used in skydiving.

The irony of people who claim to free the oppressed, wanting to oppress those not like them is strong.

When the mind, the facts and the debate is lost. The reliance of brain rot is brought to the fore.

‘Brain rot’ named Oxford Word of the Year 2024

"Brain rot’ is defined as “the supposed deterioration of a person’s mental or intellectual state, especially viewed as the result of overconsumption of material (now particularly online content) considered to be trivial or unchallenging. Also: something characterized as likely to lead to such deterioration”.

Our experts noticed that ‘brain rot’ gained new prominence this year as a term used to capture concerns about the impact of consuming excessive amounts of low-quality online content, especially on social media. The term increased in usage frequency by 230% between 2023 and 2024.

The first recorded use of ‘brain rot’ was found in 1854 in Henry David Thoreau’s book Walden, which reports his experiences of living a simple lifestyle in the natural world. As part of his conclusions, Thoreau criticizes society’s tendency to devalue complex ideas, or those that can be interpreted in multiple ways, in favour of simple ones, and sees this as indicative of a general decline in mental and intellectual effort: “While England endeavours to cure the potato rot, will not any endeavour to cure the brain-rot – which prevails so much more widely and fatally?”

Working on it.

I volunteer to load it to thespeakerscorner.ai and promise not to make a "SPEAKWITHBILLVON.com" LLM bot.

I will also volunteer to make an AI agent out of the useful skydiving posts, curated by someone.  We can call it femur bot.  You can ask it questions like, "I just got my A license, what size Leia should I buy to impress the ladies?"

How’s the leftist safe haven today? I got suspended for saying that “This site fosters leftist assholes.” I could have just as easily said “This site fosters assholes from the right.” I’m sure you would agree with that. I am, at least currently, also a dz.com user and you probably consider me an asshole. That’s ok. The moderator stated this for justification: “Calling dz.com users assholes really isn’t OK, unless it’s preceded by “hey,” and used in skydiving.” However, I did not attack an individual. I’d say that my suspension is proof positive of the accuracy of what I said. Make opinions free again!

“Also note that while we will not tolerate hate posts, ‘there is no rule prohibiting attacks against groups’ or non-DZ.commers. (See here for details on what constitutes a hate post.) Organized religions, political parties, celebrities, presidents, and countries are all fair game. If such posts will upset you, do not read or post to this forum.”

I was referring to the upcoming one. ;)

I think you’re assuming that my give-a-shit-meter is still calibrated.

By the way, if it should occur, this will be number III, not II. Credit where it’s due…

Conveniently omitted from your quote:

"Clever insults that attempt to get around the above (i.e. "I like rabbits" "anyone who likes rabbits and posts here is an idiot") will result in the same sort of bans/locks/thread deletions that a personal attack will."

What is the purpose of the rules if it’s really just whatever Billvon thinks?

The person who banned you last time was Wendy.  And the rules are what Willem originally thought.

If you don't like the rules (or us three) there are literally endless other forums to peruse.

Well then…she was wrong.

Be positive and learn from it. Until you've been banned a few times you won't know just how far you can push it. For me being banned gave me confidence made all the difference when we got the new mod for example.

It went dead for a while and I couldn't think of anyone with whom I'd lost contact that I wanted to look up.  I'm certain the sentiment is universally reciprocal.

I’ve enjoyed having a number of the more right leaning people back posting (and some new ones).

The world is full of echo chambers and people hiding in their safe spaces unwilling to have their opinions challenged.

It takes guts to stand up for your beliefs when you’re outnumbered.
