I'll take it.  Now Trump is going to destroy it all, of course.  But at least we had that decade of prosperity to look back on.  You DID bank a lot of money from your investments over the past 16 years, right?

Not much gets done without the senate and the house. There are no excuses now for republicans as they have all three..

1. Build the wall

2. Get rid of Obamacare and replace it with something much better

3. Deport ten million illegals.

5. Balance the budget and eliminate the national debt.

The Republicans had a majority in both the House and the Senate, and, with inauguration of Trump on January 20, 2017, attained an overall federal government trifecta.  Why didn't they do all that stuff back then?

Probably because the margins in the house and senate were small and not every republican is MAGA. Now trump has learned a bit and will likely rely upon recess appointments IMO.

There is a giant unelected bureaucracy that actually controls what laws and how they are implemented. There have been decisions, like the Chevron one, to limit their power this time.

1. They could not do it then, and they will not do it now.  Too much money and not enough payback - even the republicans will not support this.  Of course Trump can and will use executive power to spend whatever he wants unchecked and the House nor Senate will stand in the way.  No one knows where the money comes from, probably by printing it.

2. The only thing better than Obamacare is Medicare for all, and the republicans will not do that, nor do they have anything better, not even a concept of something better.  But they will burn it to the ground I expect.

3. Yes they will, until the bill comes in, inflation, housing, taxes lost, worker shortages, family earners deported so the leftovers will end up on welfare, etc

4. Still have no idea what means.  Trump is now the swamp, so what is he to do about that?

5.  Not a chance in hell.... expect spirally deficits and debt.... upward, not downward.  The fact that TWO people are in charge of redundancy and cost cutting is already an irony.....

I say screw it. Dismantle the administrative state completely. Let the Red States sort out their own natural disasters with their own money, make their own education and health standards, their own work place safety standard and especially their own border control.  Let Texas build their own wall at their own expense and then deal with it when US citizen immigrants from Louisiana, Mississippi, and New Mexico come across the border for basic needs and help because their state is too poor. If they want Christianity taught in school, let them do it. Let every state in America pay their exact fair share of our military expenses and what ever remains of our national government based on population. They want to send it back to the states? Fine by me.
