Who represents your "thinking" well?

Recommended Posts

Please help with seeking Clarity instead of Agreement (Dennis Prager's line).

I don't want to debate individual issues. Rather than trying to seek AGREEMENT about any particular issue, how about we seek CLARITY about an OVERALL philosophy?

Who are the progressive leaders? Who closely represents your "philosophy" on the issues of the day?

Please exclude people that were/are primarily just spiritual leaders, such as any religions prophets. However someone like Jesse Jackson I think should not be excluded because I think he is more of a political leader than religious. It doesn't mean you have to agree with everything they say, let us please not demand purity/innocence from sin. Think "big picture", not "tiny detail". Remember, the focus is to be on the notable "thinker/philosopher/leader", not a particular issue, so if you think a guy I like about economic issues is lousy, then don't just attack him, tell us who is a better leader.

My quick/not at all comprehensive list to start, with no implication intended by order:

Thomas Sowell
Milton Friedman
Larry Elder
Ronald Reagan
Ben Shapiro
Jordan Peterson
Dennis Prager
William F. Buckley Jr.
Walter Williams...and I'll think of many others...
Please don't bother telling me any of these are on the Southern Poverty Law Center's hate group list.
Thank you in advance for participating, let's seek clarity over agreement.

To list a few.

Hi Bill,

And, my add-ons to that list:

Gretchen Whitmer - Gov of Michigan

Jay Inslee - Gov of Washington

Bob Ferguson - incoming Gov of Washington

Gavin Newsom - Gov of California

Sherrod Brown - outgoing Sen from Ohio

Ron Wyden - Sen from Oregon

I think I could from here to New Years and my list would not be complete.

I like variety; I’m not sure there are individuals who I go to (although Heather Cox Richardson rarely disappoints). But if I listen to the people I identify with too much, I’m just entering the echo chamber. So I check in with normal people I know (yes, sometimes on FB) for how they see things. Because I don’t learn much just confirming my already-opinions.

But I tend to avoid the cruel and the mean-spirited. I’m just not into that.

Very similar to this. Like to read varying view points, plus the view points of "regular people".

Sometimes even the cruel and mean-spirited.
