Jack Smith moves to dismiss cases

But he did so with without prejudice. Apparently, until Trump slimes his way out of that, too, that means when he is no longer President in 2029 he can still be held to account. Or, if someone with a sense of mad power and humor and who is jonesing to be Prez finds a way to invoke the 25th.......possibly sooner?

DoJ dragged feet over including Trump in Jan 6 probe over fears of appearing biased, report says

Merrick Garland and Biden are entirely to blame. According to the above story they wanted to do nothing until it became clear that trump was going to run again. Democrats fu*ked themselves and now it is more evident than ever that the entire justice system is a scam run by insiders.

trump is scott free and the DOJ is a joke. If there is still any doubt in anyone's mind Bondi should set things straight come January.

You have a politicised justice system the instant political perception influences their actions.

I must admit that I have a morbid fascination with seeing how quickly the American empire is collapsing. I always felt that first world countries would have more checks and balances than 3rd world countries.

I don’t know when the rot started in the US system, not being a history buff I can’t go back that far. But it seems that by early 2000’s it had already started (it was interesting going back to that time period in speakers corner a few months ago).

It feels like the decline has reached critical mass and is now not only unstoppable, but accelerating rapidly.

I feel very sorry for and concerned about friends and innocent people caught in the decline.

I would love to see Musk destroyed, it would be great to see a total boycott of twitter, star-link and Tesla.

Hey, have you forgotten the Golden Rule? We have the best government money can buy.

Musk mentioned that he had some spare cash lying around. That he might buy MSNBC and start with a round of layoffs."Joe Rogan also glommed onto the idea.

"If you buy MSNBC I would like Rachael Maddow’s job," the notoriously anti-scientific podcaster tweeted in response to Musk. "I will wear the same outfit and glasses, and I will tell the same lies."

Right, some convicted felons don't get sentenced, and some indicted criminals are fortunatate in having appointed the judge who dismisses their case.

Can you explain how Biden weaponised the justice system and his son is in jail and Trump is free?

I just did.  It's "The Golden Rule".

So JFK, LBJ, and Nixon were saints?  C’mon man

No. But Gingrich was the one who pretty much defined serving “my people” over “all the people” and “compromise is loss” as tenets of the new Republican Party. And I don’t think either of those added to the country.

Our already adversarial political system became way more adversarial, and I see that as a strong net negative. We are still neighbors and countrymen

I'm glad I am not the only one that recognizes this.  In a TV interview years ago when he was speaker, he was asked about something and told a bold face lie.  The interviewer said "But that's not true...."

Gingrich replied "That is what our/my people believe....".

If the press had grown some balls and pushed the issue, it might have ended there, but then, maybe not.

Gingrich was the first to systemically, and methodically tell absolute lies based on 'what people believe' (at the same time, promoting the narratives), which has lead us to where we are today.... absolute bullshit, no recognition of the truth, no acknowledgement of the truth, alternative facts and thus the end of the republic in a few years.

house of cards being deliberately dismantled by only one side of the populace, conservatives that believe their opinion is more valid than truth.

Nixon was going to go be indicted, be removed from office for his lying, and he resigned.  His VP also resigned.   No one in this new administration gives a fuck about lying, nor do they care about what is factual, nor do they care about anything other than ideology.

Not sure what lies JFK told....?  LBJ was caught up in the fog of war, but also, i was just a kid in Canada so we did not get any details really, and I was too young to care.  I am talking about systemic, methodical lying since Regan, normalized by Newt and the disruption of anything and everything in government to meet the ideological goals, regardless of how corrupt it is.....

Vietnam...both of them and Nixon too.  Blatant lies.

All saints compared to our current president-elect, yes.

Possibly...I remember when Gary Hart was running and the press broke the scandal.  Seems like the gloves were off after that.  Point being prior to that the press was either in collusion or stupid.  I'm going with stupid.

As Hanlon would suggest.

Are you really comparing a consensual affair to rape and felony convictions?

You missed my point.  I think pols of the past were just as bad if not worse.  The press just didn't pay attention so we didn't hear about it.  After Gary Hart things changed.

Why does that mean it's ok not to care?

That's what I was talking about.  They were not worse, and your example is a great one.

Gary Hart had an alleged affair.  It was never proven, but there were press reports about it.  His campaign also owed about $4 million.  Based on those two issues, as publicized by the press, his campaign was sunk; most people did not want to vote for someone like that.

Trump had three well documented affairs.  One was proven in court.  The other two resulting in his marrying the woman he was having an affair with.  He has cheated on all three wives - again, very publicly.

Trump is an adjudicated rapist, and has stated he enjoys sexual assault.  26 other women state they have been sexually assaulted by him.

Trump is a 34 times convicted felon, convicted of crimes of election interference.

Trump owes billions to people ranging from banks to contractors to individuals that he has never paid back.  He forfeited on a $280 million loan - then sued the people who gave him the loan, stating they made a mistake in loaning it to him.

And not only did all that not sink his campaign, it increased his popularity.

It has often been said that it's inconceivable how people could support Hitler, or Mussolini, or Lenin, or Stalin.  How could that happen?  Now we know.

Putin started another war, he has been assassinating opponents domestically and in other countries. The FSB are the main suspects in the bombings of US and Canadian bound DHL cargo aircraft. The FSB are the main suspects in the recent severing of two undersea internet cables in the Baltic sea. Yet trump fawns over Putin every chance he can.

I'm glad that Biden, Harris, Obama, Bill or Hillary, Ted Kennedy, Blagojevich, Menendez, Weiner, Corrine Brown, Chaka Fattah, Jesse Jacson, William Jefferson, Schumer and AOC never lied. "You can keep your doctor" "I never had sex with that woman"

At least one party is honest.

Ah! a post using false equivalency to justify blatant lying.
