Trumpflation excuses

Recommended Posts

Once Trump's tariffs go into force, and inflation starts ticking up - who will conservatives blame?   Erik Randsborg of Quora had this take on a future FOX News interview:

A: Mr President Inflation seems to be going up, even though you said you would reduce it.

T: The economy is good, better than ever before in USA, but it was in a worse mess than you could even imagine. Much worse after socialist, marxist, fascist Democrats ruined America. Our best people looked at it and said they couldn't believe what they found out.

A: When will inflation go down?

T: It is down. You can't believe the fake news media. They have been after me all the time. I am the most pursued person in the whole world with just made up accusastions. All their efforts have collasped.  Russia, russia, russia hoax gone, that I kept some souveniers from my first presidency, gone, that I did anything wrong on Jan 6, I offered Nancy Pelosis 10 000 troops, she didn't want it. She goes free and I get accused. You see how fascist, communistic our beloved country was under the Democrats. I saved USA

A: But people are paying more for groceries now than before you became president.

T: When China starts paying their tariffs, you will see grocery prices so low like you never seen before. The prices you see now, is because of Democrats who have no idea about economics. I am a successful businessman, no one knows about economics like me. The Art of the Deal was no 1 on more best selling lists than any book before it. People came to me and said with tears in their eyes: "Sir, your book saved my life"  Think about that, I wrote a book and it saved lives. I saved lives from the China virus too. The fake media say I killed many. I haven't killed anyone, I am a savior, I save more lives than anyone.

A: When will grocery prices go down?

T: They will come down in two weeks.

A: But isn't it the companies importing products that pay the tariffs?

T: That was a nasty, very nasty question. With my tariffs USA will be richer than anyone has ever been in the history of the world. Everyday day many companies call me and say: "Sir, I will move my company back to USA. I regret moving it to China".

See this is where you liberals have it all wrong. This is why we need to have a keen successful businessman as president who is a master at negotiating. Let me try to break this down so even your feeble minds can understand.

Standard corporate politicians can't think very far ahead and can only come up with the simplest solution. That is why they make the US citizens (importers) pay for Tariffs. So, if an American company buys 1,000 Acme branded widgets for $10 each and we have a 10% tariff, the American company pays the Chinese company $10/ea. and the government $1 for a total of $11,000. They must then pass that cost on to the American citizens who want to buy Acme widgets. And this is what your lazy incompetent liberal politicians think is a good system.

Trump on the other hand with his far superior intellect, business sense, and negotiation skills that the world has never seen before will change all that. Under his plan if an American company wants to import 1,000 Acme widgets, they will pay $10/widget (same price, please try to keep up). The Chinese company will ship us 1,000 widgets and they will get the same $10 as before. So, the Chinese manufacturer is happy their profit is still the same. Then the Chinese government will pay $1,000 to do business here in America. And everybody will be happy. No increase in inflation. We still get the Acme widgets for the same cost. The Chinese company will still make the same money they always have. It is a win-win situation.

You see. It is really not that hard when you sit down and actually think about it.

True!  Remember when Trump built that entire big, beautiful wall and got Mexico to pay for it?

China has now banned the export of key minerals like gallium, germanium and antimony to the US in response to American export bans of high technology items to China. The trade war is now starting to simmer.

Oh! wait too bad that China will still export those items to Canada and Mexico. Come January 21 Americans will come to Canada for their prescription drugs and EV batteries.

Except the Felon in Chief anyway, Canada bars convicted felons from entering.

You can manipulate the books to your heart's content.  In the end the consumer pays.

Or to put it more succinctly:  "Who pays?  Benchley pays" - Robert Benchley

It is really not that hard when you sit down and actually think about it.

EDIT: I'm more concerned about our food supply when we deport all the farm workers.

That's why you don't deport them. You arrest and imprison them, then use them as slave labour on the farms.

Now you have removed illegal immigrants and made food cheaper.

The sad thing about that (Mexican-American) border wall was that immigration patterns changed a decade ago, but right-wing politicians are still chanting the old propaganda.

Starting around 1990, Mexico started building machidores (apology for my sloppy spelling in Spanish). Those "shadow factories" allowed skilled Mexican workers (licensed welders and electricians) to find decent-paying jobs close to home. Hence no need to sneak into the USA.

I used to work alongside Latina-Americans in factories in Southern California and have a lot of respect for them. They show up early, they work hard all day and they don't steal tools.

Since then the mexican-American border ahs remained open but the numbers of immgrants from Mexico has dropped. Their ranks have been replaced by immigrants from Asia, China, etc. who still see the M>eican-Americna border as a easy-in.

Maquiladoras.  Yeah, we called them "twin plants" because they were basically a business that had an office in the US and a factory in Mexico, often right across the border.  We used them with great success.

Hi Rob,

Re:  Those "shadow factories" allowed skilled Mexican workers (licensed welders

Quite some years ago, I was a consultant to a steel fab shop in Monterrey, Mexico.

The welders could not run a bead to save their keesters.  Totally incompetent welders.

I worked with steel fab shops, all over the world, for over 30 yrs.  I do have some experience in that field.

OTOH my brother worked with machine and welding folks in Brazil, near the Embraer plant (he worked with them for years with a couple of companies). He said they were as good as a group as any he ever worked with, and were better at making do than a lot of workers are now. So many rules around what you can do in aviation. He was able to rehab a Cessna 140 using local help to fabricate the vast majority of the parts. With the airplane manufacturer nearby, they were absolutely up to snuff.

The consumer will certainly pay. There are 11 billionaires in the trump administration to be. Not one is driven by an altruistic ideology.

Its the next step in the oligarch playbook.

There is a reason Trump admires Putin so much.

Trump will be tougher on the Chinese than anyone.  You won't believe how tough he's going to be on the Chinese.  He will force them to pay those tariffs.  And if they don't pay them, he will explain how they are the real cause of inflation.

Trump "explaining" anything is disturbingly laughable.

Explain?  When you know everything there is to know, explanations are redundant.

How we got past this bullshit, I will never understand.  Americans are basically fucking stupid.  Oh wait, sorry.... it's a cult.

The election is over but they will fly the flags for years to come.
